With the recent snowfall slowing the ice on most lakes there hasn’t been alot of fisherman out.
Some of the smaller lakes, Lower South Long, Crow Wing, Rice and the Highway 371 bay of North Long have walkable ice and are producing some fish.
Gull Lake froze on sunday after the snow. It has a couple of inches but should build pretty quick. Red Lake has been producing walleyes since Thanksgiving and some of the resorts are letting smaller vehicles and wheel houses out. Lake of the Woods has a great bite and are also letting out smaller houses.
Mille Lacs just froze with the exception of Isle Bay, where there has been some panfish being caught.
With the ice conditions be sure to check the ice as you go, wear a life jacket and bring your ice picks.
