It’s honker time!
This will be my first goose shoot since high school and I will be joined by my dad, son and one of my daughters. Opening day of early goose begins this morning (Saturday), one half hour before sunrise. I am hoping that they come crashing into the decoys at first light so the kids can get cracking!
We are hunting just north of Brainerd with Kyle Peterson, who has been watching the goose scene for a while now. Kyle is pretty confident we will see a little action and if Kyle feels good, we feel good.
My first goose didn’t hit the ground until I was in high school and I remember exactly where I was — Wood Lake in Comfrey, Minn. If all goes well this a.m., it will be geese in the a.m. and walleyes in the p.m. John (my guide customer Saturday p.m.) is planning on a walleye dinner Saturday night but I told him if the bite is tough that he might be eating goose!
