The turkey’s are still fair game until the end of the month and we will continue to hunt. But the calendar is filling in and those last hunts are going to be squeezed between guided fishing trips (and everything else).
School is nearly out and soon our lakes area will be rockin’ like it always does here during the summer.
I was on the mighty Mississippi on Monday night with the angler I’m mentoring from Minnesota Teen Challenge, and before we hooked a fish, I picked up a wing feather from my favorite bird — the wild turkey. It floated right to us.
Bobby and I were trolling Rapala Husky Jerks up river, and after about 15 minutes of trolling, Bobby hooked into the first fish of the night — a 17 inch walleye. We finished off the evening with a few more walleyes and a 19.5-inch smallmouth bass.
The Minnesota Teen Challenge Fishing Challenge is June 2. Come out and join the party at Cragun’s Resort on Gull Lake.
