Aquatic invasive species seminar May 19

Native plant discovery walk at arb

A native plant discovery walk is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Northland Arboretum.

Members of the Brainerd chapter of the Wild Ones will lead native plant discovery walks at the Northland Arboretum from May through August. Each walk will include a short minute presentation about what is expected to be seen that evening on the hike, including the plant habitats grown in and key features to look for.

Members will then hit the trail (or off trail) for an interactive hike to identify and collect species for the arboretum native plant herbarium.

The vent is free and open to the public.

Aquatic invasive species seminar May 19

The Upper Hay Lake Association will sponsor a seminar on aquatic invasive species (AIS) at 10 a.m. May 19 at the VFW Club in Jenkins. It is free and open to the public.

The presenter is Carrie Maurer-Ackerman, program director of Minnesota Waters.
