Wouldn’t it be boring if we had predictable weather? What if we could count on two feet of ice before the first of the year and then two feet of snow around that time?
As much as I would like this scenario, I also like the unpredictability and the constant change we see here in central Minnesota. It sure does keep us wondering, wishing and waiting.
Wouldn’t it be boring to wake up every day to sunshine and 80 degrees? Just ask those Arizona folks.
With five to six inches of ice on many of our area lakes and no snow as of today (Wednesday), many folks have been getting out on the ice. I have been out a handful of times and the “golden hour” has been golden. This does seem to be predictable.
If you get on the ice at 4:20 p.m. and fish until 5:15 p.m. in 13 to 18 feet of water on one of our area walleye lakes, you should have some good action. I have been fishing Gull Lake and the bait of choice has been a Jigging Shad Rap tipped with a little minnow meat.
Let’s all pray for some snow. Just not too much.
