Outdoor photographer and writer Bill Marchel of Fort Ripley is one member of a team of contributors to the recently published book, “Deer Cameras, The Science of Scouting.”
Published by the Quality Deer Management Association and edited by Lindsay Thomas Jr., the book recently was honored by the Professional Outdoor Media Association with a 2011 Pinnacle Award. Marchel, a contributor to the Brainerd Dispatch’s Outdoor Traditions section, wrote chapter four, “Quality Deer Photography,” and also contributed several photos.
“As a professional photographer, Bill understands the elements that go into quality photos. But more than that, he is a serious hunter and has been using and experimenting with trail-cameras for years,” Thomas said. “We knew we wanted him involved in this project, and he was the perfect fit for the chapter on quality photography. We assembled the entire book team by seeking the most qualified expert for every aspect of trail-camera use.”
