Vox Pop-June 19

Excuse?

In response to the CWC income maintenance workers using an “excuse” that they cannot keep up with their work. Income maintenance workers dole out welfare “benefits.” Food stamps are welfare. Medical Assistance (MA, Medicaid) is welfare. Cash benefits are welfare. Who pays for welfare? Taxpayers. Ask a taxpayer if they feel bad that you are not getting your phone call as fast as you want or your welfare “benefits” as fast as you want them? Have you cut down on your cell phone, cable, Internet, cigarettes, tattoos, fancy nails, alcohol, trips to the casino? Have you looked for a job?

And since most people are on

And since most people are on board with cutting government spending, you have to realize that this includes employees. Laying off employees increases the number of people requiring assistance. And when you have fewer employees doing more work, you have to expect delays. It's not the employee's fault and it's not an "excuse." It's just that humans have a limit as to how much they can accomplish in a given time period. They've hit the limit.

Excuse

I sincerly hope you never have to ask for any form of assistance! Asking for help when you are in a situation beyond your control is the most difficult step for any individual. I encourage you to try the process just once. I have no doubt you will have a different viewpoint. Let the public know how you were treated by the workers. To set the record straight a majority of the individuals you talk about do work and also pay taxes. Judgemental attitutudes in this community need to change.

Umm, have you forgotten about the good 'ol corporate welfare? And if you use a public road, sorry to say it, but you use welfare.

Nah, SG.

I helped pay for it so it isn't welfare. It is welfare for people that never pay taxes and drive to the bar and everywhere else using taxpayer money to pay their way.

Whos to say they arent

Whos to say they arent working and just need some help. If they are working then they are paying taxes. I get medical help, I work. I do not have cable, a car payment, drink, have nice nails. I have a prepaid cell phone for work, first time in over 5 yrs. We do have internet, 15 a month. We have our bills cut down almost as far as you can go. I wont buy my kids new clothes when second hand is just fine. I am all about living on the cheap but sometimes a person needs help and that is what I pay taxes for. Dont assume cause it makes an --- out of you and me.
