No charm in paper
I don’t care for your new format except for maybe the front page. The paper looks very regimented, but has lost its charm. And what happened to Vox Pop? I haven’t seen it lately. I enjoyed reading topics that people were interested in, whether good or bad, without fear of retribution.
Vox Pop, voice of the people, is posted Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Dispatch website only. Submissions are limited to 100 words. Add commentElimination through limitation
They are hoping to shut it down by putting in the online version only. Online readers already put in their snarky commentary. They don't feel the need to write in. Paper readers not seeing vox pop in the printed version will assume it is no longer running so will not submit comments either. One small change to effectively eliminate a part of the paper that was either loathed or loved, depending upon who you are.
The Dispatch can get rid of it and still keep their hands clean. After all, it's not THEIR fault no one is contributing.
Clearly getting worse
It seems like whoever is supposed to be running this website is just plain lazy. I don't mean to be rude, but I have watched the quality of this site go downhill since I started using it about a year ago. Very rarely do I make any comments, and I've put this one off for too long. I'd like to ask "why?". Why do you even have a police blotter of you are not going to put anything from the reports in it? Not to mention it is posted in a very erratic way. Lately it seems like it is just thrown together in about one minute. I know you're probably busy, but quality is important and I think that I speak for a lot of people on this one. Another thing that bothers me is that you let the same 5-10 individuals completely RUN the comments board with their offensive and childish remarks. How about a little board monitoring? No one wants to have discussions when the same 5 people just take turns insulting each other about their political beliefs. I'd like to see this site run with a little more effort or at least be given a reason why that effort has been scaled back so much lately.
