Vox Pop-April 19

Have feelings for the farmer

The letter in the April 16 paper says that the DNR should not have this hunting season for wolves. When they were transplanted here to boost the wolf population we had DNR people tell us they only have two pups a year so what is the big deal? Well, they are a dog after all, and can have as many as 12 or more pups. So the population gets out of hand. They are killing the calves that are being born, which the DNR are supposed to, by paying the farmer for his losses and guess what? They are not. Save a little of your feelings for the farmer that is losing $400 to $1,000 for each one of his beef the wolf is eating.

Serve all students

OK, school district. We know you have an engineering class for those going into that field. Are you aware that the engineering field has been saturated? Do you have any other career preparation classes? How about serving all students instead of focusing on a few?

Brainerd and the Wonderful Education System It Has!

Just a thought from beyond our time in Brainerd.First the education that our children received was nothing short of excellent. I think that the teachers in Brainerd are the best. They made a difference in the lives of our family. Thank you so much for all that you did. We think you are worth every penny some folks seem to like to count/recount. Thank you Brainerd we miss you.

Agreed...

Many of us who came through the Brainerd School System appreciate the professionalism of the teachers and the staff employed.

I always found the teachers I had during this years as wanting you to do much more and making positive contributions to the communities we settled in and became part of.

There is a juggling act of current trends of professions and adapting to teach the future generation on those trends.

For example?

I thought software engineering was dead.
No, it's very much alive, however it's evolved into Information Technology or Communications Technology, or who knows what in the future.
It still has the same foundation of education to continue the engineering form into the future.

We're not exactly driving around with Ford Model A's.
However, come to a Street Rod Show (example, back to the 50s each year in St. Paul) and watch the teachers and the students enjoy evolution in action.

That good old Model A buggy has fuel injection and some pretty decent electronics in it. Not exactly what was manufactured in the 20s/30s, but a super nice rig to enjoy!

Where do you

think the DNR gets the money to pay the farmers? Think really hard, please. Oh, that's right, from the taxpayers they robbed to pay the cost of transplanting them in the first place.
Unless a bunch more of the citizens in this nation wake up and realize that there is no "government money" and that it is OUR money they are wasting, we are doomed!
