Affordable health care
President Obama promised affordable health care. I pay cash for my drugs (considerable) and cash for my doctor visits. Every three months I spend what my Medicare payment will be for one month! That’s affordable? Must have a nice home in Chicago!
Fiscal responsibility
The Minnesota Republican Party is a million dollars in debt. No, it could be a $1.7 million. Wait it could be $2 million . . . or more. Really?! They want us to believe they are the party of fiscal responsibility when not only are the massively in debt, but they don’t even know by how much? Give me a break!
Not enough ice
Noticed last Friday, that there were a few cars on the ice just at the point where the river and Rice Lake join. Are these folks crazy? There can’t be enough ice to hold the weight of an automobile. Shouldn’t the accesses be blocked off? There were quite a few heavy trucks parked on the ice close to shore. With all the near misses happening the last few weeks, this sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
Ban conibear traps
Conibear traps are a real danger to our dogs when set on the ground as they are allowed in Minn. (but not other states). You have just seconds to get a dog captured in one to save its life — they are designed to kill very quickly. Trappers are not required to report dogs that are killed so we don’t know how many are each year. But it’s obvious they are keeping good people from sharing the woods and killing good dogs, it’s time they be banned from being placed on the ground.
Remember this
Brainerd Dispatch recently reports the county board wants to change the meeting time of the Committee of the Whole. According to the article, one commissioner hasn’t attended these meetings for the past year as it conflicts with his separate job. If meeting times were changed, another commissioner stated they would not attend at that time because they have a life and it would conflict with that life. They get paid approximately $28,000 a year for two regular board meetings, and one committee meeting per month. When they campaign, they say they will represent us full time. Remember this next election.
No new stadium
I personally don’t think the Minnesota Vikings deserve a new stadium. They haven’t made it to the Super Bowl since 1977, 35 years ago. They should have to win at least half their games before asking for a new stadium.

If you would do a little reading, you would find that both parties are in debt. And where was the screaming when our own school disrict was claiming poverty, and then found a small fortune? If you know nothing about finances, shut up!
Let's look at the bigger picture.
The Nation is a 15.2 trillion dollars in debt. No, it could be a $15.3 trillion. Wait it could be $20 trillion . . . or more. Really?! Obama wants us to believe he can manage our finances? Give us a break!
Google the U.S. National Debt Clock in real time. It looks cooler than most Christmas trees. http://www.usdebtclock.org/
yes, in debt up to our eyeballs
Then why is the defense department sacrosanct from major cuts? This is a major segment of the budget.
43% of the world's expenditures on military is spent by the US.
100 times what Iran spends.
Until Washington gets serious about cutting this area, why should we listen to them about anything?
same old argument
We are super prepared to live in that world. Name a country which is superior to the US, galt?
Congress is fed an argument like that, too.
That attitude and brain-washing is why we are drowning in debt.
And no one speaks about it on these debates. If we took our "money" away, countries would have to finance their own wars.
Maybe peace would be cheaper.
poor galt
so brainwashed
well, carry on.
and your male logo aka symbol says it all...back to the fifties in your thinking.
if you want war - vote GOP in 2012
Except for Ron Paul they are all beating the Iran war drum.
They want to bomb Iran. It's the Iraq plan all over again.
Last night Rick Perry said he wanted to go back into Iraq.
Even the moderators had to have him repeat that slowly.
They were shocked.
preemption policy
in Iraq left thousands of our own dead.
And they had nothing there to fear except a few dated chemicals.
lame, galt, lame. Re-elect a bush-like candidate if you believe that worked.
Obama-Biden 2012
"Hunkering down and hoping it
"Hunkering down and hoping it never happens is not really a viable option."
That's what Clinton did as Bin Laden's attacks became bolder, and bolder.
So this is the issue on how to choose a President??
We have dozens of problems facing this country, of which Iran is one, but I'm not basing my vote on whether or not that person is going to bomb Iran. I opposed both Afganistan and Iraq, not because I opposed the reasoning behind the decision to invade, but because I saw absolutely no economic benefit to the American people. We need to put our own economic house in order before we go galloping off to solve every military problem in the world. Now Iran might force the issue on it's own to make us have to deal with it and we should have plans in place to deal with it but there is no need for us to go pick a fight. Everybody acts like Iran is some new problem and the fact of the matter is that we have been at war with them since the late 70's, so what is all the fuss now? The problem is that the Democrats and Republicans always have to dream up a new crisis to direct the public's attention away from the real problems facing this Country. The sad thing is that we, the public, fall into our Democratic and Republican lines just like good little school children and do as we are told instead of holding to the fire these people we vote into office to represent us.
llr, I agree
And that leader in iran is so dang afraid of the youth there, he wants to eliminate their contact via the internet. See, we can win without interfering! Take a kid's ipad away and they will overthrow their government every time!!!
And this is why we don't need more weaponry and bombs, galt. You are too old to fathom what kids are thinking. Not your fault you were born in the 40s...but get out of their way and let them learn to solve the world's problems in a new way. When people contact each other via social media, they are unlikely to want to kill each other. (if they remain civil, that is!)
The Navy helping the Iranian ship yesterday was more effective than a diplomatic visit.
It is the economy, llr. Why don't they stick to that in the debates instead of birth control and gay marriage? No ideas, I would guess.
another new photo there, galt, of a has-been. Try to get our youth to rally around ralph. Next photo, Nixon? or Reagan?
llr, I agree with what you say
but lake, really, leave it up to the youth? Maybe the young people in other countries, but not this one. They are too lazy, and too stupid, no morals, no priciples, no direction. For most of them it's let mommy and daddy take care of me until I'm 50 and let me do anything I want. I believe their new God is Chaos!
Agreed LLR
Good points! I'm not anti-military but our country should no longer serve as the world's police.
Lake has a point, also. When India and Pakistan got into it there was no bombing as India realized
that they would lose world business.
There will also be a new strategy that will not so much involve tanks and feet on the ground. It's
called 'intelligence.' We also need to work with other countries to share the load of peace keeping.
There are problems HERE AT HOME we need to fix before we interfere with every other country.
