Friendly service goes a long way
I just wanted to say that even at this very busy season, the clerks at JoAnn Fabrics are to be commended for their very friendly and courteous service. Some other clerks in town could take lessons from them. It certainly makes one happy to return to their store.

I'll bet the clerks at that store don't stand there holding your purchase in your face while you try to put your change away.
I was at
Wal Mart last night and when I checked out the lady wouldn't even look at me much less say hi. Just mumbled my total and then left her till before I even got my stuff. I understand its not the greatest job but its much more tolerable when you strike up conversation. I worked at Cub Foods for a short period of time as a teenager and I had fun talking to all the different people!
Wal Mart
Most of the people who work at Wal Mart are rude and unfriendly, that does not surprise me.
It's just sad
that it seems like so many people take no pride in their work anymore.
Target and Fleet Farm
are just the same. Rude, and crude; but when you figure most are teenagers, what do you expect!
whiney and out of touch?
I was at Target and Fleet Farm a few days ago and clerks at both stores were chatty and pleasant.
I boycott Wal Mart, but I would guess their employees are grumpy. I would be too if I had to work there.
pdnet your tag line is your projection. Perhaps clerks are not nice to you because....?
wal mart
I have a daughter that works at walmart that does not live with me but I do give her rides to and from work. I would have to say that most of the time she is a positive person. Very rarely when I pick her up she complains about walmart management (it happens sometimes), most her complaints about work are from dealing with rude guest. Maybe some of you people complaining about rude cashiers should look in the mirror because maybe you are the problem. My job I have to deal with crabby people about 85% of the time, it can be very trying sometimes.
be nice to people and they'll be nice back
All work is honorable. At this time people are fortunate to have jobs, some are easier than others.
I always give clerks consideration and I talk to them, they are all nice to me. Rarely are crabby at me.
Try being pleasant and see what happens. You are right rubbyk.
Some
Some grouches just need more fiber in their diet.

You hate Walmart and everything about it, so please do us all a favor and grow up. If you never shop there, don't comment about something you are ignorant of. And I stand by my remark, that when hiring teenagers as cashiers, they are snotty!!
work retail
obviously none of these people have worked retail during a Christmas season. I applaud the fact that they even show up to work to deal with all of the needy, self involved customers who don't have the least amount of respect for those helping them to get off the damned cell phone ....
I worked
at both Cub Foods and at Gander Mountain during Christmas and other holidays as a teenager. As well as working on a ranch and going to school on little sleep. If you have a job this day in age, no matter what it is you should be happy to show up to work for the fact that you have a job. I had one rude cashier, doesn't mean I'll never go back or never be nice to them again. Just sad for me to see.
name calling by galt and pdnet
you know that I feel I have 'won' when you resort to personal attacks and name calling.
Thanks for the day brightener, confirming that you have no valid arguments.
p.s. pdnet, clerks are nice to me. I suspect it's because I am nice to them. Try it some time.
forgive him, minne
He probably watched the gop debates last night and wanted to cry, but instead lashed out at an innocent party.
yup, he must have watched the debate last night
Wow, that's a lot of anger galt.
Merry Christmas?
Just remember - we liberals had to deal with two terms of GWB.
I can honestly say I was frustrated and I thought he was stupid,
but I didn't rage like you are.
Not good for the health.
name calling and throwing insults
"nastiest?" Really? I do not call people names and throw insults constantly like you and pdnet.
Read your posts and then mine (start scrolling up for a reality check.)
Look in the mirror. It's not me that constantly is asking why my post was removed.
leftist scum
Liberals must be destroyed and ground into the dust.

"I won't waste my time trying to use logic ...."
LOL!! Logic, galt? If logic was in your arsenal, you would have long ago deduced that your username is the fictional product of a charlatan and a fraud. Kinda get the picture? Of course not. No .... what motivates you, galt, is anger, pure and simple. In the Book of Angry White Guys, there are stars by your name. ********
Btw galt, what are you up to tonite between 6 and 8 p.m. ...... "getting angry"?
Whee!
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers
thanks snackfu
i finally remember where i read about people like minnesnowda. i forgot about the orcs.
reading the headlines, just did and OMG ! Amy Koch
GOP Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch who resigned yesterday to 'spend more time with her teenaged daughter'
has actually been having an 'inappropriate relationship' with a senate staff member...
but she SAID she was not pushed out when she suddenly resigned on Thursday.
More lies from the party of family values.
p.s. there is a difference between 'nastiness' and 'truth' galt and pdnet, just sayin'
minnesnowda
Kind of leaves a lot to the imagination. Many politicos who are "inappropriate" think they are above the law. We will have to wait 24 hours to see just what she did that shocked them all. Ask Gazelka.
when the buzzard twins
start pecking it's time to go do somting else. minnelander, i sure hope you don't have a mirror at home.........
not afraid of mirrors in the least
and a clear conscience. I'm not perfect, but I'm also not a GOP
leader claiming to be representing God and/or family values, either.
dfl never claims to be good
so in that way they don't lie. it's all the other lies thats bad. dfl can say they dont represernt God and feel good about all the other lies and lack of family values.

a bad day for the GOP all around
I think the word here is hypocrisy.
There are a lot of good DFL leaders who are faithful to their mates and God.
But when a GOP strays, because they profess and run on 'family values' they take it in the shorts when this happens.
The readers comments under the Star Tribune are brutal for the GOP. They had a bad day/week/month starting with Sutton
resigning (oops, paid too much for the Dayton recount) then some other guy got arrested at the airport today, also. The
guy planning on taking Sutton's place.
Let's separate, GOP and Republicans
The GOP is a sloppy word/acronym lately.
Republicans is a decent word as of late.
It's amazing, that in the State of Minnesota,
there is now a couple of interesting items:
1. State Party Chair Tony Sutton resigns. Half a million in the hole with IOUs.
2. Amy Koch is in another fun fest. Don't blame her, she's a person who has feelings and is entitled to a life.
3. Radio personalities like Rush are now asked to Hush.
That's not nice. He earns a cool lots of coin sitting in a comfy chair in Florida (state of no income tax) and raising fists and volume in his vocal chords. I want this gig...3 hours of ranting and big bucks come back. I would need a voice strength coach to keep this gig up. Perhaps Rushster has done this for a while.
4. 2012 election - Up for grabs?
I'm very sure of PD and Galter. They never fail to deliver.
Those responses are treasures. Captures to captivate.
Just like "Newt". Those of us with long memories, remember.
He's Presidential Material...NOT

Where's my post and please don't say it was offensive or foul language? Is this newspaper that thin skinned?
Galter
I disagree.
My road leads to somewhere.
A positive.
Where's JoAnn Fabrics?
I don't think I have ever had a problem cashiers or store clerks. Of course, most of my shopping is in Maple Grove and I wouldn't be caught dead in a WalMart, Target, or Fleet Farm. Maybe they are just so much nicer down here.
