In agreement regarding tips

I am 100 percent in agreement with the server who is in the business of bar/restaurant stating that service was good then of course, a person should tip. If service is poor, there should be no tip expected for merely doing your job. If you don't like your job, perhaps you should look for another one, possibly obtaining some further education so you don't need to work as a bartender/server/restaurant worker. A tip is for service over and above what is absolutely required.

Shame on you

Shame on that person who dropped the cat off by County Road 9. Now that cat doesn't have any ears. Shame on you.

Bartending days are done

Bartender, you only do 3.3 percent of work and that is the truth. I know who you are. I will not tip you any more. Your days behind the bar are done.

Editor's note: The Vox Pop Department of Auld Lang Syne says, "Happy New Year to you, too."

Our livelihood

Why is the planning committee given the power to take away people's livelihood? Who do they think they are? I am 73 years old and receive $300 a month Social Security. I own my own home and rent a two-bedroom apartment above my living quarters. You are now telling me I have to let the apartment sit there vacant. This apartment is licensed and inspected every year. There is no way I could pay property taxes, rental taxes and utilities on $300 a month.

Why throw kitty in the ditch,

Why throw kitty in the ditch, Mitch?

If the cat is so meaningless to you, why would you make the extra effort by stopping, backing up/turning around, getting out, finding and locating, picking up (nice) kitty and giving it the ol’ heave-ho?

…just asking.

Happy New Year!

Jeff

My Christmas wish for people who dump animals.

My Christmas wish is that people who dump animals end up getting "dumped" in a bad nursing home where an uncaring staff lets them sit in their full diapers all day and night.

No earred cat owner found

To the Vox Pop caller regarding the no earred cat who was "dropped off" near County Road 9, the possible owner of the cat stopped at the Dispatch and would love to claim her pet.

The cat's name is No Ears and has been missing for 3-4 weeks. The owner rescued her about three years ago. The cat is a fixed female, gray tortoiseshell in color.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of No Ears, please contact me, DeLynn Howard, at the Dispatch at 855-5850, and I'd be glad to call the potential owner to possibly reunite them.

While I agree only tip what's

While I agree only tip what's appropriate, the idea of "perhaps you should look for another one, possibly obtaining some further education so you don't need to work as a bartender/server/restaurant worker." is kind of a joke right now. I've recently graduated college, and am working a crappy retail job, just like most of my friends who have graduated recently. Times aren't what they used to be, education does not automatically guarantee you a job. Telling someone to just get another profession is kind of harsh, some of us would LOVE to but are getting nothing but hundreds of rejections.
