Website should be high priority

I am very disappointed in the school district’s Family Access site. For the second weekend in a row the web page is not available. This service is hit and miss to say the least and for the families who use this site it is very frustrating. I hope the problems with this site will finally be addressed and corrected. It should be a high priority for our district to fix this.

Beyond the intersection

I am surprised that the article about “annexation in Baxter” became a sudden issue? Why should this project be rushed? A portion of the property is currently in Baxter city limits with water and sewer already installed. The developer has to abide by Baxter’s policies. It was purchased in 2007. Plenty of time to raise these issues. Why is the county’s nose stuck in there? Why was the county not working with Baxter all along? What is being hidden here? Baxter’s future lies beyond this intersection.

What’s the excuse?

I read the Brainerd City Council report in the Dispatch and it notes one council member was absent. Further into the article, it talks about a previous meeting and the same council member was absent. I note in a lot of local government articles, members were absent, Brainerd Council, Crow Wing Commissioners. These people get paid to represent you and vote on issues. What is there excuse? It would seem fitting if they miss two meetings in a year, they are terminated from their position and get someone new!

No wonder

I was talking to this guy who was complaining about paying child support. I asked if he or his ex was the one paying medical coverage. Neither one, because the child is on Minnesota Care, which means we, the taxpayers, are basically paying for child support! No wonder our country is broke.

Would you want to move here?

Is it any wonder Brainerd has the highest unemployment in the state? We have a mayor who has described the city’s water as poison, city council members who have been running the show for over 30 years and whose sole focus is seeing how cheaply a city can be run, residents who regularly trash the school district without knowing what they are talking about, and a downtown that is mostly bars, with the council allowing more, despite ordinances otherwise. If you were a business owner or professional, would you want to move here and create jobs?

Subscriber wants responsible reporting 01/31/12 - 10:33am

About a week ago there was a Vox Pop concerning stolen vehicle reports. A request was made to please include a description of a stolen vehicle. Maybe someone in our community would know useful information to aid in recovery. Another vehicle was reported stolen in yesterday’s paper. No description was given. These are large items purchased with a lot of hard earned money. I see many details in other police blotter reports. Why not a stolen vehicle description? My renewal for the paper will soon be due. I need a paper that does responsible reporting.

What a joke

Talk about the “Good Old Boys Club!” Bob Olson and Mary Koep finally got their buddy Jeff Czeczok on the Airport commission. The Brainerd City Council should get legal counsel on conflict of interest. What a joke our city council has become.

Double ditto on TV

Regarding Sunday’s Vox Pop about TV getting worse, I want to say thanks to the individual who sent this article into Vox Pop. I couldn’t have said it that well, so double ditto for you.
