I must respond to Greg Allen's op-ed, "Is Mediocrity the New Norm?" in the Dispatch on July 17. His remarks about President Obama are patently false. He calls him "scary" and labels him a "deficit shattering spendthrift.

The Wednesday (July 25) Brainerd Dispatch had a quote from Kathy Stevens from Nokay Lake regarding the proposed group home that stated this proposal is ".ruining my life. I can't even say how dumb it is.

It is with deep sadness that I feel compelled to write this letter of dissatisfaction with the Brainerd Dispatch. I have been a dedicated Dispatch subscriber all of my adult years (I'm old) and have also bought many gift subscriptions for family members.

Options are open Mr. Grimes you could subscribe to both the Dispatch and the Minneapolis Star Tribune and then you would get both sides, as the Tribune is more then opposite of the Dispatch.

I, for one, do appreciate the editorials by Keith Hansen, and seeing them in every issue is fine with me. It is refreshing and informative to read what someone with some common sense who has looked into the issues has to say about them.
