Exquisite wildlife photos
I would like to thank the Brainerd Dispatch for consistently publishing some of the most exquisite wildlife photos I've ever seen. There are many great photos on other subjects as well.
On Wednesday, Rep. John Ward had a hearing in the House government committee on H.F. 157, the proposal for a veteran's home in Brainerd. Council member Lucy Nesheim and I joined Rep. Ward in testifying before the committee.
Racinos create jobs
More than 80 percent of Minnesotans are in favor of Racinos. The Racino bill in the Legislature will support higher education, create jobs in construction, hospitality and agriculture, and benefit the horse industry in Minnesota.
There were several disappointing no votes in the State Government Innovation Committee on March 19. Sen. Paul Gazelka was one, voting against allowing Racinos and using the revenue to fund higher education in Minnesota.
Once again another editorial by Editor Hansen has amazed and angered me. The editorial, "Students Need the Best Teachers" deals with teacher seniority - "the last in, first out" or, in other words doing away with seniority when it comes to layoffs.
In the March 15 Dispatch, the editor wrote about civil discussion and stated that, "… in this ever growing divide within our country, many are less inclined to enter into civil discourse.
