I hear a lot of comments on the decline of the middle class in America today. I also hear that unions are declining in membership and power.

A few years ago a friend and I attended a Minnesota Ojibwe powwow. Everyone is welcomed to attend these respectfully. Small stands sell handmade items, tee shirts, prepared foods, etc.

Rolf Westgard’s guest opinion is filled with dazzling statistics: 18 percent; 39,000 tons; 87,000 ounces; 1,000 pages; 720 million dollars; 25 years; 6,000 acres; etc. None, however, support in any way his opinion that Minnesota has the technical expertise, political will and financial commitment to “regulate” large-scale sulfide mining in this water-rich and valuable environment.

In response to Tim's opinion from Tuesday's paper, you make a good point. I would just like to state my opinion as to why they would feature Stew in our paper. It's most likely because he's a Mills.

Tell the politicians no Anger. Disbelief. How $2.8 million Minnesota tax dollars could be spent! This $2.8 million dollars comes from increased sales tax voted in in 2008 (outdoor portion) of the Legacy Amendment proceeds.

Brainerd lost a great leader and a wonderful woman. Bonnie Cumberland was an inspiration to me. We were the first marketing class she taught at the new Brainerd High School. New in 1969.
