In the United States there are at least 250 million fossil fuel-burning registered road vehicles, and about six million big trucks. Add in another 100 million small ICEs, like lawn mowers, snowmobiles, power boats, etc.
It seems ironic that the city of Baxter can allocate funds for a couple of kitchens at parks in Baxter one week, and then seek a new tax (that’s what it really is) on Baxter residents for road maintenance the next week! Wants versus needs do not seem to balance each other at all.

City is not over-staffed
Over the last six years, The city of Brainerd has reduced the number of employees from 137 to 116 (a decrease of l5.33 percent). Services don't seem to have suffered much, but in a few departments, overtime has risen.
