ACA not bad
There’s little wrong with Obamacare/ACA, as far as we know currently. In fact, it’s working better than predicted, already lowering costs. (www.nytimes.com/2013/11/29/opinion/krugman-obamacares-secret-success.htm...)
The problems are website implementation, done by “private enterprise,” for pay, without sufficient “government regulation.”
The bugs will be corrected in time, just like they were for Social Security and Medicare. When I signed up for each of these, it took just a few moments, very easily done.
The main Obamacare problems now are obstructionist conservative, right-wing, dictatorial, anti-democratic leaning Tea Pot dopes like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell and others, congressional ‘leaders,’ who are working as hard as they can to put more money into the pockets of those who already have too much. Did I say dopes? Yes. What I was thinking was much worse. They don’t care if doing this hurts citizens, and it does. (These are the sort of people who cut SNAP food stamps, ultimately affecting even 800,000 war veterans. Don’t they care about our veterans?)
Some things are better done by private industry. But some are better done by government. Healthcare insurance is one of them. The private insurance industry is absolutely willing to let people die to make profits. (They use ‘death panels!’) It’s the reason we no longer use “privatized” fire, police, and highway departments. They don’t work.
Party Republicans and tea pots had 100 years of “privatization” to get healthcare working well for everyone. They utterly failed, much like the greedy fabled giant who killed the goose that laid the golden eggs.
Republican President Theodore Roosevelt was the first big name to call for some sort of universal healthcare program, over 100 years ago. Since then Republicans have been too busy filling their pockets to care or even notice what’s happening to everyone else.
Greed is good, they claim.
