I’m writing in response to the outrageous letter that recently ran in this paper calling State Rep. John Ward a Nazi dictator. The letter was offensive and its authors — and this newspaper — should be ashamed of themselves.
There are those who may disagree with Rep. Ward’s positions on certain issues, but even they would tell you there is no one who works harder and no one more committed to helping the people in our communities. Rep. Ward has fought to improve our local schools, lower property taxes, and bring good jobs back to our region. He’s a good person and a public servant following his conscience and doing what he thinks can help our area the most.
Even if you’re on the other side of the political aisle, there is absolutely nothing that would warrant these offensive, disrespectful attacks.
Speaking of the other side, I call on local Republican leaders to denounce this ridiculous letter. Our area doesn’t need or want this type of divisive, dangerous rhetoric and with an election next year, Republicans need to say these attacks are unacceptable.
And to the Brainerd Dispatch – really? Are there no boundaries anymore? At long last, is there no sense of decency anymore? I’m disgusted that the Dispatch would run this letter. Heck, I’m disgusted the Dispatch is our local paper.
