Nolan event is Wednesday
Minnesota’s Eighth District U.S. Congressman Rick Nolan will be attending and speaking at a forum on the federal budget on Wednesday, September 4h, 6 to 8 p.m. in the Central Lakes College in Brainerd. This special event is sponsored by the Concord Coalition in cooperation with Central Lakes College.
The purpose of this important forum is to facilitate a discussion of the federal budget focusing on budget deficit reduction. The citizens and residents of Crow Wing, Cass, and Morrison Counties will have the opportunity to participate in the discussions and make recommendations on the U.S. budget and national debt to Congressman Nolan that he will take back with him to Washington. Issues such as defense spending, Medicare and Social Security, taxes, and federal aid to education will be among the topics to be discussed. Congressman Nolan will be able to share with us his broad perspective on federal budget issues from his unique experience of having served in Congress in the 1970s to 1981 and returning to Congress in 2013. Congress today is too often gripped with extreme partisanship and ideology, and an inability to reach consensus on the critical issues of our time.
I cannot overemphasize the importance of one’s attendance at this key event from ordinary citizens to our locally elected officials. We are living in perilous times for our nation and the world. This event will be your opportunity for input into the federal budget and to propose policy alternatives that can only be helpful to Congressman Nolan as he proposes legislation and decides on the great issues that will come before him in the Congress of the United States.
