Dishonest officials

Dishonest officials

Elected officials are fundamentally dishonest. Gun control has long been a focus of many in this country. Though I’m not knowledgeable of all the nuances of the Second Amendment, based on the Founding Fathers’ circumstances, it had far more to do with enabling the citizenry to protect themselves against tyrannical government than against local psychopaths. It is about providing a balanced firepower so when King George’s successor came knocking on your door, you could fight back. Government is no less inclined to abuse its authority than it was then. Based on the absurd and ongoing power grab that is present day Washington, it’s as threatening as ever.

That so many of you view the NRA with its resistance to further restrictions on firearms as intransigent lunatics has far more to do with how you conduct yourselves in office than it does with the NRA’s actions.

You in public office are fundamentally dishonest people. You lead lives of deception at every turn, structuring your lives as comfortably as you can while governing with an indifference and arrogance that is absolutely maddening. When the country is reeling from financial disaster, you waste a trillion dollars on a health care bill we can’t afford and you’ve never read. You claim it’s critical because health care costs are killing this country... no they’re not, you are! You are killing this country. You endorse the ongoing slaughter of millions of unborn children and whine when terrorists are water boarded. You can’t lecture us right in Newtown High School about not doing enough to keep our children safe, while simultaneously slaughtering the unborn. You fabricate the intense, media laden drama of the fiscal cliff and lack the courage to do anything about truly reforming the obscene gluttony of government. You know you’ll be out of office before the bill comes due… you don’t care and have no integrity nor honor.

You lie whenever and wherever you need to move forth your agenda. Were you able, you would purge the U.S. of guns… every last gun in the country, if you could. So please forgive Wayne LaPierre and those of us who don’t trust you as far as we can spit. You’re a dishonest lot, motivated by a distorted worldview. If mass murder prevention were truly your goal, you would welcome armed security wherever needed. It is outrageous that we protect our money with far more firepower than we protect our children.

Thank you, Daryl

Thanks, Daryl, for sharing your angry thoughts about all of the lying liars in gov't. We haven't heard nearly enough yet from the local NRA far-fringe (to be fairly distinguished from most local gun owners), so you helped fill that void.

You stated that you're "not knowledgeable of all the nuances of the Second Amendment". You may be correct here; most Constitutional scholars don't share your narrow historical understanding. It's actually amazing that you think -- in a country with 300,000,000 guns -- that there even could be a serious effort (by our military, I presume) to purge it's citizens of all their guns. Even if the lying liars in charge had the will to do so (which they don't), envision the awsome organizational effort it would take to prosecute this mass disarmament!! And, presuming you're well-armed, which weapons do you possess that could begin to match the fire-power of the U.S. military? C'mon, Daryl -- at least be a little bit serious. Your frustration and disdain for the lying liars seems to be clouding your judgment.

If nothing else, thank you for helping me solidify my position about the need for some of the common sense legislation being proposed to address gun violence.

Only a government run by

id iots would take away a citizen's only means of protection and claim it is to make them safer.

Whoa!

Wow, Purposed. I never would have identified you as one of those who thinks our government is intentionally trying to create anarchy on our own shores -- essentially conspiring against we citizens. I guess if the choice is between that paranoid worldview and mine, I'll live with the notion that my gov't ISN'T "out to get me". If that's truly what you believe, then I guess I understand why you might live in a bit of fear, and decide to accumulate an arsenal (and store food, and so on?). Good luck with that. Have a good Lent! I'll visit with you again after Easter, if our gov't hasn't devolved into federally- (or U.N.-) directed anarchy by then. Do you read the Left Behind series of books, too, and buy into some of those doomsday scenarios? You're really surprising me here, I've got to admit.

It only takes one good article

Like that of Mr. Bahma's to drag out the trash and scum of people like bubba, on this web site. Did you ever notice that whenever someone posts a decent article on this website, the vermin come crawling out of the walls. Bubba, go back into hybernation and allow your brain to mature.

Lordy no. Who would ever expect civil/"nice" behavior from

charlie m, toward a "lib" with whom he disagrees, regardless of the day/holiday? I actually feel sorry for you, Charlie, because of your frequent (uncontrollable?) compulsion to angrily lash out on this comment site. Take care.

I'd have never brought it up,

but since Bubba did.......
Obama does resemble a charecter in the Left behind series.
He also made sure he get's the Most Outstanding Lier of the Year Award for his speech last night.
The guy has guts, you have to admit.

I'd probably agree with this guy

On the various gun regulation bills. Don't like something in almost all of them.

But rants like this--seemingly in the name of trying to influence someone who doesn't feel the same way--do nothing but get the ranter's blood pressure up.

They certainly don't help people think that these gun owners aren't such a bad lot, that they make good points, that maybe we shouldn't pass more restrictive legislation!

You envision a guy hiding in the shadows of fear, with razor wire around his yard and an arsenal of AR's and extended magazines in a bunker in his basement, who all the neighborhood knows to avoid like the plague--as he might just take a pot shot at you, fearing it was a commie libtard coming to forcibly take his guns away!

Does more to ENCOURAGE more gun regulation that dissuade against it, I'm afraid!

Just thinking that you also

Just thinking that you also be one with an active imagination,

I re-read the letter and didn't envision a guy hiding in the shadows. I guess we see what we want to see.

I see a guy that is frustrated with the indifference and arrogance of elected officials. With the huge debt and continued spending and less tax money coming in and high unemployment and millions our of the job market. Sure, he could be over-reacting, couldn't he?

Remember that O'bama wants a government police force under his control. and little by little the libs will gnaw away at our rights and what is right for the country and give him what ever he wants. Just look at the gays in the military, gay marriage, abortion, women in combat and Michele's vacations. The libs will give Barry his swat team and they'lll be coming to call on you if your neighbors snitch that you own a gun.
Maybe a little reeducation camp with armed guards could be set up at the old Whittier school.

I think it is very sad that

I think it is very sad that everytime somone expresses their opinions or fears about the supposed leaders of our country that they are attacked as some "nut job". If you think that some of what Mr. Bahma says can't happen then you have rose-colored glasses. Everytime our narssistic president give a speech I have to shake my head in disbelief. No, I take that back. I do believe that he and our liberal "leaders" can actually accomplish the "gnawing away of our rights". After all what has he got to lose? The more he and those that parrot everything he says talk against our constitution, they get the younger generation to start nodding their heads with changing something that they haven't been taught anymore. I, too carry a coppy of the Constitution" in my purse. When has anyone on the lib side ever been concerned about it? The libs are all about how it doesn't fit anymore. What a CROCK!

Steve:

"Remember that O'bama wants a government police force under his control"

You're right Steve, instead of a government police force, all police should be run by private corporations right?

"and little by little the libs will gnaw away at our rights"

Like the right to marry who you want to?

Cmon people, get a grip on reality.
