Australian gun laws

Australian gun laws

The figures from “down under”(Australia) are in, one year after the absolute confiscation of all firearms occured as the result of the country’s strict new gun control. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by the government; a program that cost Australian taxpayers more than $500 million.

After the first year, Australia-wide:

Homicides are up 6.2 percent,

assaults are up 9.6 percent,

and armed robberies are up 44 percent — yes,44 percent!

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly while they are in their own homes.

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are up 300 percent! While law-abiding citizens turned in their guns, criminals did not, and thus they are still in possession of them. The criminals are nearly guaranteed that their “prey” is unarmed!

Australian politicians are “at a loss” to explain how public safety has suffered, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in “successfully ridding the Australian society of guns!”

To that question, I can only mutter”DUH!” The Australian experience speaks for itself: Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and gun-control laws really affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Australian gun laws

That is an easy one. Only the bad people have guns now. Bad people, meaning government and other miscellaneous crooks. When I lived in Chicago, more people were killed there by off-duty policemen than the gangs. Go figure, and Obama wants to make Minnesota a poster state for his agenda.

I can only imagine the violence that would erupt

if this country ever told it's citizens to give up their guns. My fear is that the fool in the White House may just want to rape the 2nd Amendment for that sole purpose!

No one is fighting to take guns away from

current owners. Unless you commit a felony. Like that kidnapper in Alabama. Oh, that's right, the local cops didn't act to take his guns away either after several complaints, so he killed a bus driver and kidnapped a five year old. I guess that's the law. And the gun owner has had his rights kept in tact.

Sometimes laws need to be enforced or changed. But I haven't seen one proposal to take guns from current lawful owners.

Makes good press though for the gun lobbyists.

Not a change...and it's a state law, not federal.

"The laws fortify New York's existing assault weapons ban, limit the number of bullets allowed in magazines and strengthen rules that govern the mentally ill, which includes a requirement to report potentially harmful behavior."

Put your specs on FNB.
Where does it say they will take away your arsenal?

They will "Fee"

them out of existance, silly. But then you knew that. Also, if 7 guns are an arsenal there's a lot of them in the USA.

You lost, FNB.

There is no new New York law to take guns away. Post here if you find it.

Fees? How does that take your gun away? Are they going to charge a fee on guns you already possess?

This:

"Another: the narrowly defined family exemption for required background checks for gun transfers. Still another is the revocation of grandfathered assault weapons from owners whose gun permits lapse." from the Times Herald-Record
is one way they outlawed grandfatherd guns. I feel that outlawing them is the same as taking them away.
Why don't you just give up?

Fair and Balanced

Someday and I hope soon, Southie and gang will need some one to save them. It would not be me under any circumstances. I would walk on by because I never saw it. I would peek out of the corner of my eye because I really would like to see Southie get it. ROFLMAO!!!
