I have some good news and some bad news. The good
news is the divorce rate is going down. The bad news is that’s because
a lot of people don’t get married anymore. Now I’m not talking about
two lovebirds sharing a nest for a while or two old people sharing
their lives. I’m talking about young people living together and having
kids and not making any commitment to each other.
You would think
that if you want to take on the responsibility of raising a family,
with your significant other, you would kind of make it official. Now, I
know that there is no shame in living like this anymore. Shame went out
the window a long time ago.
But it seems to me if I was a woman
and was going to commit to having children for some guy, if for no
other reason then to make sure he was serious about the kids and me — I
would say how about we sign a contract?
Why don’t men want to do
this? Well, I can think of several reasons. First, he doesn’t want to
share his stuff with you. He just wants to share his lust with you.
Secondly, the government pays single mothers some support, and maybe if she can collect that, it will help out with the bills.
But probably the biggest reason is he doesn’t want to be on the hook for anything. He’s just not ready to settle down.
How
do we stop this? Well, some morals to start with might go a long way
but I think that ship has sailed. How about you’re not going to get
support from the county unless you tell who the father is. How about
the country takes that information and does something about it.

If we could only have a photo , to remind us from where we all came in the glorious 70s.
Heterosexuals
Heterosexuals don't want to get married and the homosexuals want to.
Go figure.
Right on!!
There are too many of these immoral men running around, spreading their seed, and when a pregnancy and birth results, they don't take responsibility for their actions.
But, to be fair, there are also the immoral women who allow the men to sleep with them. They are just a culpable.
What's unfair is to expect the taxpayers to foot the bill for such peoples' poor choices. So, having the mother identify the father makes perfect sense. Make these people accountable.
It doesn't help when the
It doesn't help when the President praises NBA players for
taking care of their children. They aren't married to the mothers but, they spend time with the kids and pay support.
Yes, paying support is good and time spent is good however, I think he should have mentioned that being married to the mother is the best.
There should be shame in
There should be shame in shaming others when you know nothing of their circumstances. You holy'er then thow's sure are judgmental.
shame
We may be approaching a time in this country where judgement should be directed more often towards those that show a complete lack of it. 70% of blacks, 50% of hispanics and 30% of whites are born out of wedlock. The lack of responsible behavior and the moral decay in our society is rampant. Add to this the disfunctional effect on the family and the cost of the multiple assistance programs that have been created to cope with this disaster, and you have a long term unsustainable drain on resources. Good judgement in the first place will create no judgement in the second.
judgement
Well said, many don't even know how their behavior affects others. You know, the new normal is expecting others
to take care of your children.
Whatever feels good.

I'd like to see more of my tax dollars spent on tracking down these deadbeats who run around impregnating girls and then walking away. Garnish their wages and put them on a bare bones budget for 18 yrs.
