King Obama
We are hearing a lot of class warfare rhetoric by the president and members of his administration as they have campaigned to raise taxes. The president and his staff are also practicing class warfare:
1. The president instituting a pay raise for federal employees while raising the payroll tax deduction on low and middle-income workers, thus shrinking their paychecks.
2. With record high unemployment, job losses and businesses struggling, the president spends $7 million of tax money on a vacation in Hawaii.
3. While instituting life-long secret service protection for himself, commanding the vice president to meet with advisors and formulate federal restrictions on firearms and self-defense equipment for law-abiding citizens.
Bow down Americans. Can you say, “King Obama?”

Maybe you missed the Presidents news conference the other day ?
That was an actual event most normal people actually paid attention to what was said.
Taking it from the top, Tom:
1) The "class war" has been waged over the past 30 yrs. and won by the folks at the top (surely you've seen the ubiquitous graphs on pay/wealth disparity for U.S.? Dispicable -- we're almost the worst in the world).
2) The temporary payroll tax deduction was meant to expire, and was allowed to do so by both the President and the Congress. (You can't complain about underfunded Social Security, and then not fund it.) I'm on the fence re: whether federal employees, who haven't had a raise since end of 2010, should have gotten the .05 - 1% raise or not. I'd have been inclined to only give merit increases, which would have excluded Congress.
3) All Presidents take off some time over Christmas, and Pres. Obama still has family in Hawaii. (And, all Presidents spend money on travel, period. They put in 16-hr days, 7 days/wk., so give 'em a break. And if we want rules about travel, fine, but they should apply to all Presidents, not just the one's you don't like.
4) Pres. Obama didn't "institute life-long Secret Service protection for himself"!!! The Secret Service has been around for a while now. C'mon, Tom Lund -- didn't you take even one H.S. civics class?
5) And the "bow down" and "King Obama" stuff is just plain disrespectful. I didn't much care for President Bush (or anything he did), but I wouldn't dream of calling him some of the names folks freely use re: Pres. Obama. A little respect for the office is in order, whether you agree with his policies or not.

You must have a very short memory because people called President Bush many rude and nasty names, he was even booed while flying away after Obama's first inauguration. Tell me how anyone in the middle and lower class are any better then when Obama took office. How long has it been since the democrats in control of the senate passed a budget? You kool-aid drinkers make me laugh.

But, don't forget as the only "true" news folks, fox news, tells us, that sasha and Maleah (why can't they use American names)? Have reportedly spent THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS on Barbie dolls and iPhones, etc! All taxpayer dollars!
Plus, they demands armed protection but obummer says our kids can't do conceal carry. I wish them poor kids in Connecticut had had a chance to shoot back!

How come whenever the topic of raising taxes on the rich comes up, the wealthy conservatives start screaming about "class warfare", but when they want to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits from the poor, elderly, and disabled, we never hear the term from their lips?

When taxes go up on the middle and lower class it gets kept so hush hush? Have you looked at your checks lately?
The Barbie Wing
Wow, I guess the taxpayers will now have to pay for a new wing to the White House called the Barbie Wing to accommodate the two or three million Barbie dolls we taxpayers bought for Sasha and Malia.
Which American names would suit you? How about Pocahontas and Sacajawea?
BTW, taxes for lower and middle-class workers under Obama are the lowest they've been in our lifetimes. In 2009 and 2010 there was an $800 per working couple tax break that was part of the stimulus plan. But republicans complained so much about the "failed stimulus plan" that no more funding was allocated. Next the president gave working people a two percent break on payroll taxes (also known as social security). Apparently you're so well off you won't need SS when you retire, but a lot of folks will, so please stop complaining. It was never meant to be permanent.
People didn't say anything when the SS taxes
went down 2%, but they sure have been sputtering now when it went back up.
Seniors received a COLA this year of less than 2%.
