Debt ceiling

As many of you know, the debt ceiling is once again looming large. Nancy Pelosi has suggested and the president has indicated, the 14th Amendment can be used to bypass Congress.

By the way, if we don’t need Congress, might as well send them home, stop paying them, and save lots of money.

But I am going to quote to you exactly what the 14th Amendment says.  Section 4: “The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in surpressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.”  Sounds like they are right.

However, they are overlooking Section 5 which states: The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”

Any questions?
