Ringer's a dead ringer

Ringer’s a dead ringer

On Friday, Jan. 4, the Opinion Page found a Guest Opinion writer more extreme than either Cal Thomas or Keith Hansen. This writer is Robert Ringer from the Morris Publishing Group. Ringer filled his lengthy essay about U.S. government tyranny with name calling:

• “Dirty Dems” for the Democrats in Congress and the White House.

• The “far left” now controls the reins of power, with unlimited access to the media that disseminates its propaganda.

• “Synthetic crises” are invented by Dirty Dems, like Global Warming, to distract the people from their loss of freedom.

• The U.S. is drifting toward a “collectivist totalitarian nation-state.”

• The “radical community organizer” Barack Obama and the “far-left wackos in Congress” depend on the propaganda machine with media personalities to make the masses love their servitude.

Morris Communications of Augusta, Georgia, is peddling garbage in the Brainerd lakes area, and Publisher Tim Bogenschutz is proud of controversy from this different kind of newspaper. I call upon the editorial board members to tell us “who Robert Ringer is, and where he came from.”

Gordon O. Prickett

You write like a few of the commenters on here.

Please remember to take your tolerance pill each day.

Tolerance like "horehouse Harry Reid"?

Your exact words Sadie.

Tolerance only applies to others apparently. Gordon is right on the mark here! Weekly dose of slanted, far right, partisan to the extreme from the new dispatch. There's little if any attempt to even hide it, often labels and false "facts" are pulled right from the latest partisan "gotcha" issue the far right is pushing.

Nothing wrong with being conservative or having conservative positions either. But these extreme partisan views take what is said to still be some journalistic enterprise right into a highly partisan advocacy role. The natural thing in such cases is for someone to come along with a left leaning alternative newspaper.

I'd much prefer a paper that at least tries to get facts straight, and develops it's own thoughts and opinions after doing so--rather than simply repeating the far right "gotcha" of the day. We can tune into fox news to see what we read in this small regional paper every few days!

Ringer just another Glenn Beck wannabe

"Robert Ringer made his name in the 1970s as the author of Me Decade motivational classics like "Winning Through Intimidation" and "Looking Out for Number One." Ringer has brought that kind of selfish intimidation approach to his WorldNetDaily column, begun in October 2006 and, after a year-and-a-half layoff, resumed in November 2008.

Ringer's column may be titled "A Voice of Sanity," but it's really the opposite -- what Ringer apparently views as intimidation comes off as an insane brew of paranoia and hysteria directed at President Obama."

Ringer is a 75 yr-old white guy who writes a WorldNetDaily

column called A Voice of Sanity. He's syndicated, and the privately-owned Morris guys like to run his propaganda. That it's "WorldNetDaily", bottom feeders in the world of muckraking "journalism", says it all.

An in-depth overview of WND, "WorldNetDaily Continues to Pump Out Outrageous Propaganda", provides an extensive look at the publication and it's people. http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-iss...

Thank you for your letter, Mr. Prickett, but, sadly, it seems that the Morris guys are pleased with their very intentional and extreme-right editorial direction. As long as they stay out of bankruptcy (and they're not too many years out of their bankruptcy/restructuring, so who knows?), they gets to do what they wants to do. You can do like other readers -- consume only the Morris product that you can get for free -- don't feed the beast, and further enable its views with your dollar.

Brothel Harry Reid

If you put horehouse Harry Reid into google ( spell it correctly with a W.) You will get a clip that explains that his first campaign in 1970 for Lt. Gov. he accepted $10,000 in cash
from a brothel owner. It was in an envelope.
This should explain the nickname that some citizens of his state have given him.
That money was not reported. It always helps if one knows someone in that state.

I don't believe that I have suggested that someone not write or the paper shouldn't publish certain writers. I don't have to agree with what they write or say or Harry Reid.

Sen. Reid also

attempted to legislate against prostitution in Nevada. That should appeal to some conservatives.

His early life in a small Nevada town is told in his biography. Better to read about a really great American than this wannabe Ringer whose biography is elusive.

This excerpt from his bio is provided for your reading pleasure!

This is completely

This is completely laughable.. The one problem with Mr. Ringer is he is only telling one side of the story. And while most of what he has said is very true ... He should be blasting what passes for conservatives these days just as hard.. Guess he never made it out of the 1960-70's.. Oh well I love how so many people get upset when someone puts down our pres. but never seem to do anything but sing praises when someone blasts the republicans.. However the following definition should be used for both..
*MOST Democrats/Liberals are Demonstrative, Destructive, Delusional.
*MOST Republicans/(what passes for conservatives even though they are NOT) are Ridiculous, Un-Reasonable Sellouts.
Both parties have a lot to answer for, but then again so does the media..
HOWEVER you know the worst thing here is the American people who sit around complain and do nothing about it..
