Over 100,000 petition White House to deport CNN's Piers Morgan

Posted: January 8, 2013 - 7:04pm

Briton Piers Morgan, a talk show host on CNN has advocated confiscation of all guns in America. The push back has been intense. Spearheading the petition to have Morgan sent packing is Alex Jones, a Libertarian-constitutionalist who took on Morgan on Morgan’s CNN stage.

Morgan has surfaced as the mouthpiece for gun control in America following the massacre of 26 children and adults in Newtown, Conn. Morgan, an insult-hurling liberal slammed one recent guest: “He has called Larry Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners of America, ‘dangerous,’ ‘stupid’ and an ‘idiot,’ and told John Lott, the author of ‘More Guns, Less Crime,’ that he needed ‘to stop repeating a blatant lie.”

Morgan claims that his push for gun control in America is not about politics. Well, according to recent surveys by Gallup and Pew Research Center, 42 to 46 percent of Americans oppose gun control legislation.

Jay Carney, White House press secretary responded to the petition to deport Morgan: “The White House responds to all petitions that cross the threshold and we will respond to this one. In the meantime, it’s worth remembering that the freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our democracy.”

Morgan’s most vociferous critic is Jones, who stated: “The Second Amendment isn’t there for duck hunting. It’s there to protect us from tyrannical government and street thugs.”

Great Britain, Morgan’s country of origin, confiscated guns from its citizens. In the 16 years since confiscating guns, violent crime has tripled in Britain.

According to Federal Bureau of Investigation crime statistics in the United States, 2011 violent crime has decreased by more than 20 percent.

Without a doubt, this debate will continue. However, Minnesota senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar have sorted through the hot air rhetoric that is being released by CNN and have addressed one of the real causes for violence in Colorado and Connecticut — they want better mental health care. (Both shooters involved in killing scores of people had mental illness issues.) Let’s address the real issues and leave our duck hunters alone.

Agreed. NDAA is a travesty of justice and the antitheses of what our great nation stands for.

In other news, it looks like Piers Morgan will be sticking around for awhile. From Jay Carney, White House press secretary:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/response/when-discussing-second-amendme...

"Let’s not let arguments over the Constitution’s Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First. President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. However, the Constitution not only guarantees an individual right to bear arms, but also enshrines the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press -- fundamental principles that are essential to our democracy. Americans may disagree on matters of public policy and express those disagreements vigorously, but no one should be punished by the government simply because he or she expressed a view on the Second Amendment -- or any other matter of public concern."

Purposed...I really don't want to remind ya...WJJY...Cash Call..

I live in both worlds...
Earning an income in the Twin Cities to pay the Property Taxes (no voting rights) in Crow Wing County...
I need some entertainment, and well, KQRS does this bit called Cash Call that WJJY radio captured years ago...
That becomes a nice history lesson...
A captured element of time...
It's one of their all time classics...
High ratings every time they play the bit...
And it's the most reality setting...
Personally, I know folks in the Lakes Region and Hard Working and Just let me live my day without interruption...
However, the world is global now, and I don't think many of our ancestors are still practicing Norwegion, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, German, Dutch, Polish, and way too many other proud nationalities native tongues...
We still celebrate Lutefisk and Lefse, and SinterKlass in our Household...(Norwegion and Dutch)...
We SHARE our heritage with our children, and never are ashamed of it.!.

What Keith Hansen won't show you

The actual interview.

Everyone should watch this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyKofFih8Y

The sad thing is that there were some good points to be made by Mr. Jones. And Morgan was a real jerk in another interview with Larry Pratt recently. But no one will hear them, as Jones comes across as a raving lunatic. Does more harm than good, and he's being used as effective ammo by the gun banners now!

One wonders if Hansen ever saw this live or the recorded video. One would think he wouldn't hold Jones up as some sort of leader in the cause if he had. Probably read it in a blog or far right publication and just copied it as he has so many other "audience development" "opinion" piece since he joined the Dispatch.

Fred,

Mr Pierz Morgan is exempt from using the 1st amendment because he is a British national. He is not a citizen of the United States.

Piers Morgan has the same gig as Keith Hansen -- "audience/

outrage development", and he's loving the recent brouhaha and attention. Cha-ching, say the CNN money-counters! Ratings are "bloody-lovely" these days, quips Morgan, no doubt.

Mav: Apparently, "Courts have long held that noncitizens who lawfully reside in the U.S. enjoy the full protection of the First Amendment. (from "Do Foreigners Deserve Free Speech Rights", http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405297020351840457709487330736800...) I wasn't sure about this either, so I looked it up.

ProudRino - Exactly -- good points. The interview shows Jones as the fanatical loose cannon, and Morgan as the level-headed interviewer, by contrast. Hansen can't hide his disdain for Morgan -- this is his second "editorial" in under 3 wks with mention of Morgan (see 12/21, "Chinese join CNN's Piers Morgan in effort to disarm U.S."). Since Hansen and Morgan are essentially in the same biz: "audience/outrage development", you'd think Hansen would be more sympathetic to Morgan's charge: make a buck regardless of how extreme the methodology.

I wonder if Hansen called either Sen. Franken's or Sen. Klobuchar's office(s) regarding their actual views on gun violence and related legislation. His last paragraph, above,: "However, Minnesota senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar have sorted through the hot air rhetoric that is being released by CNN . . ." makes it sound like they disagree with Morgan (which they may or may not, but did he check?), and that they might think the gun violence issue is only a mental health issue (which they do not believe). They have both gone on record in favor of common sense gun legislation to address specific problems related to gun violence. As usual, looks like Hansen isn't picking up the phone or even doing elementary research to present a more complete, accurate picture.

Finally, Hansen doesn't mention that the number of signatures on the "We the People" petition (online, White House petition forum created by Obama Admin) asking for common sense gun legislation outnumbered the deport-Morgan petition by almost 2-1, collecting more signatures than any petition on any subject to date. It doesn't fit his schtick, I guess.

"President Bill Clinton: "Why

"President Bill Clinton: "Why does anybody need one of those things that carries 100 bullets?

Me: Why does the U.S. need 900 military bases around the world and a 700 BILLION dollar annual military budget?"
