Execution vs. abortion

Posted: January 2, 2013 - 6:36pm

It disturbs me greatly when writers compare the mass execution on 20 small children to medical abortions. One is a legally recognized procedure carried out in an office by an educated gynecologist. I won’t describe the other slaughter of children at school.

The writers are very deceptive with a few sentences covering the massacre, but ultimately stating their religious views with the implication that these anguished parents should have seen this event coming or worse yet that they deserved it.

Show honest compassion and true empathy but don’t use this horrendous event to preach.

Meanwhile back @ the Ranch....

The infamous Gov. of VA , remember him ? ( probe man ) signs a bill closing most of the clinics in his state .

In keeping with the finest traditions of those Texans who desire to lead the republicon party forward into the past.

Can the redefinition of "personhood " be far off ?

In other posts, people who

In other posts, people who are obsessed with the redblue states were saying VA is a Blue state. If they are a blue
state then why are they acting like that?

We are a divided country.

Virginia voted for Obama

The northern more populated part of Virginia is predominately Democratic, the southern part is Republican. The governor has to gain support from both sections to win.

Virginia is term limited to one term for governor, so unless this guy changes that, he is one and done.

Well Sue who is preaching now?

Its amazing how people should look in a mirror before telling others not to do something. You should did a great job preaching to others. In my opinion as far as abortion goes, the woman should have a right to chose. However, this being America, and people have their religious beliefs, they should be allowed to have their say without others (democrats) telling them what to feel and how to act. I am not a republican or democrat, I am an American first and foremost. As far as taking a life by an educated gynecologist, thats absurd. Taking a life is taking a life plain and simple. Does a fetus have any less right ot live than a chld in school? Thats the question people need to ask. Just because yiou cant put a name or face to a fetus, doesnt mean it has any less right to live. Saying somethign so stupid as an educated gynecologist doing a medical procedure to end a life is like saying an educated person isnt guilty of murdering someone. Society today has lost its values in almost every aspect. People should start respectign each other more and understanding each others values and rights. Just because someone has a different opinion doesnt make them wrong, makes us special, we are Americans and we can have our own views and opinions.

Abortion for birth control?

Abortion should never be used as birth control. There may be different needs for abortion but that is another issue totally.

Sometimes an abortion goes wrong

and the fetus survives. At many hospitals they leave the baby on a tray uncovered and let it die. It's legal.
Sometimes a fred survives and goes through life with his eyes glazed over and baffles everyone with incoherrent ramblings. No Bible thumping here...... justice seems to have been served.

Well

I just place my value on fetuses as the bible commands:

Leviticus 27:6
And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.

Whoops! Looks like god is only interested in value AFTER one month. No fetuses here! (Notice that girls are valued at 60% of a boy's value).

Numbers 3:15-16
Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them. And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD.

Whoopsy again! Looks like fetuses and babies before a month old aren't considered to be children!

Hosea 9:16
Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

Looks like the Lawd doesn't mind doing his own personal abortions!

2 Samuel 12:14
Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

Looks like Thy Gawd punishes newborns for the deeds of their parents.

Hosea 9:14
Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

Yes, let god perform abortions!

Hard... to... type... straight.... eyes... glazing... over

Acc0rding to Sue's "logic"...

...all of Mengele's experiments should not be viewed as the vile atrocities they were because they were legal and he was a trained doctor.

I'm not sure that murder of twenty 6 yr.-olds is the same as

twenty abortions, and I'm also still deliberating over the lines-in-the-sand distinctions with which we all flirt regarding this biological/philosophical/religious issue. There are some really good and thought-provoking comments following this article for those who are willing to momentarily suspend their own dogmatism on the issue and briefly entertain some other opinions. Be prepared to have your own points of view entirely and, in many cases, very logically challenged. Mine were. http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/30/on-abortion-and-defining...

I don't think I represented the article as having "Biblical

basis", Purposed. I said that it is an article that asks even dogmatic Christians -- those who feel they are bestowed with a certain unimpeachable knowledge, and absolutely know the mind of God in all things -- to think about when the "beginning of life" takes place. There are many supposed "pro-life" people who are inconsistent in terms of what life/lives they are willing to give a wink and a nod to "eliminating" -- where they find the straying from their dogmatism to be "justified".
