Short memories

Posted: November 8, 2012 - 5:57pm

After a nearly flawless, four year performance in handling the explosive Middle East situation (has it ever in history been otherwise?), the Obama administration is being clobbered by the Republicans for a breach in security that resulted in the death of four Americans. I can recall that back in the 1980s we lost 231 American soldiers in Beirut, Lebanon, because of a breach in security under President Reagan’s administration. Reagan’s response was to simply pick up and leave Beirut. Did Republicans call Reagan weak on terrorism? Not at all. Short memories these Republicans have.

It's easy

to have a nearly flawless, four year performance in handling the explosive Middle East situation. Bow to every Arab leader and invite the Muslim Brotherhood into the White House at every opportunity.

Good One Dale Swenson

Republicon( uninformed) supporters have a term for this ailment CRS.

Its pretty sad when a military style attack takes 4 American lives ,to twist the situation around for political purposes /

It was appropriate the families of those who were lost asked individuals to knock it off.
It seems most are paying attention to the family wishes.

Pretty sad Captron, pretty sad

It's also pretty sad when a DFL president allows our citizens and ambassadors to get killed and does nothing about it. When Barry screws up, the dems are always there to stifle the media. That's why a political issue was made of it.

Gee ,Guess most people grew tired of the 5:30 PM Body Count

A very long time ago. Much like the numbers we watched/heard during the ( by todays standards )
" short lived "Viet Nam war.
Maybe you had to be there to understand the how and why that was ever created and broadcast to US civilians.

Benghazi attack

You can compare apples and apples or in this case,
apples and bowling balls. There is a big difference in security lapse between Benghazi and Beirut.

The current administration despite their incompetent bowing,
butt kissing, we apologize for everything strategy still should have known enough to protect an Ambassador and his people.
9/11 is the terrorist anniversary and celebration date. The attack was with an estimated 100 combatants with mortors and RPG's. Beirut was a suicide bomber in a concrete truck
packed with explosives breaking through a guarded concrete
barrior on a non-specific date without warning.

Don't forget General Petraeas resigned.

And don't forget he is a Republican. Why don't they just get divorced first? Wonder if he was being blackmailed?

"Why don't they just get

"Why don't they just get divorced first? "
I don't know you will have to ask WJC.
"Wonder if he was being blackmailed?"
Do you think.

Probably.

Have to ask a man why they don't get divorced and just play the field.
His biographer seems to have had access to his computer.
Wonder who was paying her?

Please state where you got the info. that he was Repu.?
I don't see what difference it makes as this is bigger than
politics. It is the CIA for pete's sake.
I don't think it has been established that he was any
political party. As a General, he would not have laid that out.
The affair is with his biographer.
Seriously, if he was a Rep. he wouldn't have worked for Obama in the CIA. He probably was nothing, but himself.

Petraeus resigned over an extra-marital affair

(probably with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, who is currently the subject of an FBI investigation). There is no Benghazi conspiracy (except for the minds of a few at Fox). And, just because he resigned doesn't mean Petraeus won't have to testify Thursday before Congress about CIA/Benghazi. Let the non-politicized investigation (if that's possible in the House) proceed. It was reassuring today to see how level-headed Fox's Chris Wallace was while everyone around him at Fox was whining about a "conspiracy". He would have none of it.

Southie, I think your new buddy missed out on who "turned around

The Bush wars. ( surge ,surge ,surge.........)

John McCain thought the Gen was the most outstanding example of a military mind on the whole planet.

Might be material for the big screen , we all ( some) know
the Gen testified ( broadcast) for many many hours on capital hill about the Bush Wars ,so there is lots of tape available.

From The New Republic

"In light of the latest Petraeus '12 speculation (this time from Peter Beinart), Andrew Sullivan wants to know why everyone's so sure the General is a member of the GOP, wondering whether people are just assuming "that military = Republican." As best I can tell, the assumption that Petraeus is a Republican stems from the fact that he is. From Steve Coll's New Yorker profile of Petraeus:

Petraeus is registered to vote as a Republican in New Hampshire—he once described himself to a friend as a northeastern Republican, in the tradition of Nelson Rockefeller—but he said that around 2002, after he became a two-star general, he stopped voting."

Doesn't matter, he won't be running for office.

Thank you for the response. He hasn't voted since 2002
that is 10 years ago, so hardly anything.
Way to throw away a career, but he will still get a good
retirement pay and benefits. I never could figure out why
he took the job with the CIA.

The timing is odd if the affair was awhile ago. The FBI
was investigating her for some other reason and found out about it,so apparently if the FBI knew, the President knew
some time ago.
We will put this in the file "to be learned later".

Here's another sad distinction MN earned --

we're in the top ten states for "racist tweets" according to Time Magazine's research ttp://newsfeed.time.com/2012/11/09/mapping-racism-election-hate-prevailed-in-southeast/

Among those ten states, we were the only one that actually voted for the President (so are our naughty tweeters just an intense group, chirping away from their lonely minority perch?).

The Obama administration gave

The Obama administration gave Holly, the General's wife
a job in the new consumer agency in Jan. 2011.
She didn't ask or apply for it, they gave it to her.
I think she was qualified, but why?

Yep. We will hunt down that evil film maker that caused all this and make sure he pays for it!

At what price did Obama pay to bathe in the same vat of teflon as WJC?

I don't get your connection with Chips wife and a job.
I think she had worked for whatever health company and
received a promotion within the same company.

This job is funded by the taxpayers through the government.
As I said, she is qualified, but didn't even apply for the job.
Holly has spend her live as a military wife and has done
her share of volunteering. She comes from a military family
and is more than qualified.
