Mandates at what price?

Posted: November 7, 2012 - 8:03pm

I work with a lady who’s benefitting from Obama/Roberts care. That’s good. Some of it is good and beneficial. She can’t understand why I have objections to it. I’ll tell you in an illustration.

The American way is for the government to offer something with an option to refuse. If a person is drafted, they can opt out as a conscientious objector. Until now, the only mandates obligation has been taxes which only became mandates last century. In 2014, every man, woman and child and business, with no options, must report to the U.S. government they have health insurance. If a business can’t afford to cover its employees and must shut its door and go out of business, too bad (a tax, Mr. Roberts?)! If you act like you’re in a free country and refuse to pay your fine for not having health insurance, you get to go to jail, not collecting $200 if you go by “Go” (just taxes, right Mr. Roberts?) The British tried that in this country and had a revolution on their hands. Hold that thought.

What also bothers me is, if the government can get by with cramming health care down our throat, what’s next? By the way, after 55 years old, health options start to diminish! No “death panels,” just no coverage for certain medical procedures after a certain age. Thought you’d like to know, fellow baby boomers! Anyway, maybe the 2nd Amendment? Guns are a health risk, you know. And if you don’t comply, the government can fire and jail you as a tax! The Revolutionary War started over a tea tax.

In 1789 Thomas Jefferson warned that the judiciary if given too much power might ruin our Republic and destroy our rights. We’re seeing that today! That is my objection.

But some can, “Casting all your cares upon Him (Jesus); for He careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7. All can, if they want! Amen.

Dig Hole , insert GOP Party Platform

Then load up the bus for the Heavens Gate vacation trip of a lifetime .
Those Republicons not interested in the trip will be transported ( free of charge -no tax $ spent here) to the final insertion into the ground ceremony/rally.
All individuals who opt out of the preceeding options will be forced to attend a 2 day long class on HEALTH CARE COSTS.
The interesting and educational program will explain in great detail , past ,current ,and future efforts that have actually been made to reform Health Care and the rapid increase in costs to the country and indivduals.

Efforts will be discussed that redefine healthcare from , call an ambulance to haul you to a hospital emergency room. To something a little more proactive.
Saying NO will no longer be considered the solution.

So if businesses don't provide some health care benefits

as a part of their employee's wage and benefits' packages, then it must be hard to retain employees who face premiums near $1,500.00 and upwards for family health insurance policies.

What is Steve's solution?

Steve's solution is to allow

Steve's solution is to allow those people to just not have health insurance. He wants them to be able to "opt out". Then, when they get sick and go to the ER they will get a large bill without the benefit of "usual and customary" reductions. And, of course, since this population is too poor to afford health insurance, they won't be able to pay this bill to the hospital either. It will go on the books as a write off, which the hospital must recoup revenues for in some other way. That would be by raising the cost of procedures for everything else. This costs us more in the way of increased insurance premiums (as insurance outlays for care increase, they increase our premiums to make up for it). And it costs us more in the way of tax money spent on programs like MN Care. So basically, uninsured people in the population cost us (people with insurance) more money.

Then, Steve will sit back and complain about the rising cost of health care. Who will pay? We will. Who won't pay? The business owner who didn't want to provide insurance, and the patient/employee who couldn't afford it. It's pretty simple, really.

What needs an overhaul is the insurance industry. Medical costs are high to cover malpractice insurance for doctors and uninsured patients. In turn, medical insurance premiums are high to pay the increased costs. Insurance companies are making money on both ends. We need torte reform to decrease malpractice rates, and we need insurance reform to make it affordable, accessible and available. These 2 things should help bring medical costs down while still allowing health care workers to make a decent living.

Businesses have to provide

Businesses have to provide health ins. to their employees that work 30 or more hours per week, by this time next year good luck finding a job that gives you more then 25 hours per week. The good news is businesses will have to increase their work staff by 20% or more making the unemployment rate drop.

WalMart does it already:

keeps employees under 30 hours a week and denies health insurance benefits to them. They go on Minnesota Care.

Next time you are in WalMart ask the workers there if they get health insurance benefits.

Good explanation, okey dokey. Thanks.

It's the new normal

It's the wave of the future so, we better get used to it.
I'm already practising the "new normal" way.
Had to get a temp job for the rising cost of everything.

When we get calls for donations, we are going to tell
them to contact Pres. Obama as we can't donate as
much as we would like.

Looking "forward" to all the taxes going up Jan. 1, 2013 and
we can pay more into the treasury for all the programs
that people seem to want and need. We just can't cut
anything even waste. No, let's keep up the spending
oh, and tax the rich more, so that the Pres and Congress can spend more on companies going bankrupt and those corporate pigs.

Southie and Wal Mart

You blast Wal Mart but when a new Wal Mart is being built, your DFL Union Members are right there to enjoy the employment created for the building trades. If you don't like Wal Mart, then don't build more of them. Sounds kind of two faced to me.
