Citizens across our district have either seen or heard ads about former Congressman Rick Nolan and his time as former three-term representative. While the name may be new to some, it is not to others who were around when he went to Washington the first time.
For those who don’t know, there are several key things about his record as a Washington politician that voters should know. While in office, Congressman Nolan voted to raise his own pay four times in six years, resulting in a nearly 50 percent increase. In his final term in Congress, he missed one-third of his votes.
Is this the type of leadership we want in our elected officials? When people say that Washington is broken and that our representatives are out of touch, this is what they’re talking about.
Now, he wants to go back and represent the Eighth District. The hard reality is that career politicians and Washington insiders are the problem with our government, and we can’t afford to send someone back who was part of that problem.
