Constitution assault

Posted: September 24, 2012 - 5:36pm

Al, thanks for writing to the paper in response to my article, that “made my day” to coin a Clint Eastwood line. The part about GS employees from 1950 to 2003 was from the Government Executive magazine, Feb. 2004. The part about government job increase over the last decade was from governmentgonewild.org. The history of those countries and their governments was because I have always thought history can teach us a lot about what not to do in the future. In all three cases government got to big and powerful and the people lost there freedoms, slowly but surely.

I was told a couple years before I retired; at a retirement class by the instructor that there will be no way the government will be able to fulfill its retirement obligations to all the upcoming retirements. As you know everything the government runs is bankrupt and for the last 30 to 40 years politicians just keep kicking the can down the road instead of dealing with all the entitlement programs in government.

My concern is that my kids and grandchildren will not have the opportunities that we had because they will not be able to make enough money to have a life and pay for all the government entitlement programs. My other problem is my Navy time and Corps time and taking that pledge to defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help me God. I believe our Constitution is under assault big time right now.

Ben Franklin was asked by a woman, “sir, what have you given us” after they wrote the Constitution and he said “a Republic ma’am if you can keep it.” This you can look up at wimp.com/the government.

If you and others want to understand more about the constitution get the DVD series “building on the American heritage” and reading the book “Original Intent” both by David Barton.

God Bless America!

History vs. History Re-Written

I haven't read it yet, but I did get a copy of David Barton's "Jefferson Lies", which was recently recalled by the publisher because there were so many complaints about its lack of historical accuracy. It wasn't the first time Barton has been accused of re-writing history. Anyone who's interested in reading about the constitution in the words of the founding fathers might want to check out a copy of "The Federalist Papers."

RE-writing history is a full time job for liberals.

Latino's have re-written the way America came to be, with Americans being the bad guys. Blacks are at it constantly, as are Native Americans. This new version is taught in schools to help the poor European descendants feel better about sustaining entitlement programs for minorities.
