To the individual who sent me an anonymous response to my recent letter to the editor regarding my appreciation of Sister Simone Campbell and the LCWR. Because you chose not to sign your letter I could not answer the questions you asked of me.
What bothered me most of all, was not your chastisement of me but your total disrespect of all U.S. nuns. Your words were absolutely unfounded.
You called the nuns a “bunch of old hags wearing regular clothes, jewelry, and butch hairdos.” You went on to say “Duluth and Little Falls, etc., are home to more of these old bags.” you called “...Sister Carol Keehan (another old bag) a stooge of Obama.”
I have been informed by a Presentation Sister friend of mine that Vatican II told the nuns to go back to their foundress and that an Irish Sister, Nano Nagle, never wore a habit. From the same nun, she contacted a canon lawyer and she estimates 85-90 percent of U.S. nuns are members of the LCWR.
You found my address, so please find my phone number and give me a call and I will answer your questions.

Add commentDid the writer attack all nuns or just the nuns in Little Falls
and Duluth? Because the local Franciscans and Benedictines are by no means representative of all nuns.
anonymous hate mail
When you read the Dispatch comments, it does not surprise me that Letter to the Editor writers get hate mail at home.
There are a lot of crazy people out there.
Exactly, Snowda...
I have dozens of pieces of hate mail addressed to me. The hate is palpable on the left.
progressives get hate mail
when they write letters...they have shared them, pretty frightening! I urged them to take the letters into the Dispatch so they know how risky it is to be in the public eye. Kudos to Mr. Kraft for letting people know what is going on.
So there's a reason people on the forums prefer not to disclose their names ya think?
Sure, Snowda...
...everyone should stay anonymous because there are some whackjobs out there. Sorry, but I will not be cowed by people who are so craven they will not sign their own name to their ideas. I will continue to stay "out and proud" regardless of the anonymous left-wing nuttery that might drift my way.
Gen Custer got his final orders @the Ft Snelling clocktower bldg
Historians reported the late General said " Im proud to be out , fixing the situation " , as he rode off into the sunset . That didnt work out so well for him ,or his dedicated troops.......
Who in their right mind would be critical of nuns , besides the Vatican that is. Maybe some day the folks in Vatican City will actually see the light regarding Birth Control.
We non-Catholics love the ardent and humanitarian
messages of the "Nuns on the Bus".
What does it mean to "go back to their foundress?"
Their founders? Their roots?
You can have the nuns on the bus...
...the Church and the Catholics in the pews don't want them.
BTW...
This is how Nano Nagle dressed:
This is how Sr. Simone dresses:
Copy FAIL!
These aren't nuns, they are whackos hiding behind their so
called faith. They are democrats first and foremost. About the only part of "nun" they are associated with is nunnery, the slang version!
So, if a Catholic follows her conscience,
the old men in Rome crucify her? Not a very loving church or even loving congregations if some of the Catholics speaking out here are representative. All the nuns are trying to work within their church, but I doubt if they will stay there. That is why the Roman Catholic Church has lost a huge number of members.
Churches losing members
I agree, and so have some other religions including mine
the Lutheran ELCA because they have gotten away from
the Bible teachings and into political correctness.
Some people want the guidance of the Bible and that
is their conscience.
I admit that I know nothing about these nuns. but
it seems to me they should resign from the Church
and go it alone if they are not following doctrine.
They don't have to "go it alone."
They have gathered lots of supporters.
And yes, they should move on. If they are not welcome in their church, there are plenty of homes for them elsewhere.
I agree, Sadie...
...as a Catholic, I think these nuns should leave the Church because that is clearly where their "conscience" is leading them. They have taken a vow of obedience to the Church, but their actions reek of disobedience. Buh-bye!
Beliefs
It's amazing how ones beliefs can so completely distort ones common sense.
I wonder if it would be possible to care less about what Scary
...thinks about the Catholic Church or Christianity...nah, I don't think so.
These "nuns" are prostituting themselves for the sake of
their party, not their faith. They've clicked with some people and now they are popular, so they've chucked their vows for the spotlight. The "poor"?; wasn't that Edwards campaign platform? Well we see how that worked out.
