I, for one, do appreciate the editorials by Keith Hansen, and seeing them in every issue is fine with me.
It is refreshing and informative to read what someone with some common sense who has looked into the issues has to say about them.
As for Vox Pop, I hadn’t noticed it was no longer being printed.

Add commentHansen does not look into the issues!
Mr. Hansen does not look into the issues. On many occasions I did a little research after reading one of his editorials to find the "other side of the story".
Mr. Hansen gets his editorial material from the Rupert Murdoch syndicate.
I would hazard a guess that Mr. Matthias also gets his information from the Murdoch sources.
And you two
use Ed Schultz's talking points. Nice.
Sorry, Mr. Matthies. Hansen
Sorry, Mr. Matthies. Hansen just parrots back what he hears out on the news circuit. There are many examples of him not checking his facts and/or just presenting one perspective.
Wait shad....so all those
Wait shad....so all those years and all those opinion pieces from Katrina VandenHuevel, Dana Milbank, Kathleen Parker, Eugene Robinson, Mike O'Rourke and Rolf Westgard (non-energy) were all provided to inform us of both perspectives and included substance from varying perspectives? Ummmmm? And here I thought you were on the ball. (j.k....I never thought that).
Here's the count for the last 7 months:
Dana Milbank - 30 articles
Katrina vanden Huevel - 4 articles
Katheleen Parker - 11 articles
Rolf Westgard - ~3* (by the way Rolf, love your energy pieces, but your political pieces should be just that....left in pieces).
Mike O'Rourke - Every time he touches a computer key board.
* DNC Political pieces.
Now multiply those numbers by the years the BDD has published those opinion pieces, and only those opinions with no other viewpoint.
My point....quit your WHINNING !!! It's about time the BDD balanced the opinion section.
wait a minute, getagrip
Your response was a little off the mark. I said that Hansen was not not checking his facts and/or he was just presenting one perspective." That means that during the 3 or so months that he has been the editor, the editorials have been unbalanced and leaning towards the Tea Party position. Even his topics are leaning that direction. You respond with some statistics that must go way back. (I can't really remember very many Katherine Van Heuval columns in the paper) and actually, I think Mike O'Rourke works very hard to present a balanced point of view.
I was addressing the "just
I was addressing the "just one perspective" of your comment. You've obviously read the opinion writers I've listed. So your comment on "just one perspective" is pure whinning. The BDD has been presenting "just one perspective" for years, and it hasn't been the perspective of Mr. Hanson. Quit whinning.
"...That must go back some time?" You're either completely blind, intentionally disingenuous, or new to reading the BDD or all of the above? If you don't believe my facts, do your own research. Tell you what; why don't you go back three or four years to confirm or deny "just one perspective". Do what I did, search back issues of BDD and count the number of articles by conservative writers vs. liberal writers.
Not the same for both sides
Shad claims that Keith Hansen is just parrotting what he hears on the news circuit but it's okay for Mike O to print everything John Ward tells him daily without checking out the facts and accuracy of the info, much of which is inaccurate. I guess that's okay if your a liberal. They never give out bad or inaccurate information.
You're Inaccurate Shad
If you're going to talk about facts and inaccuracies, you should probably get your own facts straight. Keith Hansen is not the Editor. Mike O is, unless it's changed since yesterday.
getting the facts straight
Actually, to be completely accurate, Mike O'Rourke is the associate editor, and Keith Hansen is the V.P. in charge of Audience Development. That said, Hansen seems to write most of the editorials. I don't know who picks out what cartoons to run.
And BD, do you mean whining or winning?
