Obama's ploys

Obama’s ploys

The Obama administration, was and virtually is, going to make religious institutions like Catholic hospitals and schools go against their consequences by requiring that their employees’ health insurance policies pay for things like birth control, vasectomies, tubal ligations and the abortion pill (RU 486) or face stiff penalties.

When the institutions initially objected to this, the Obama administration said, something to the effect, that it would make the insurance companies not the employee’s policies, pay for those things and the regulation wouldn’t be implemented for a year.

Aren’t these ploys by the Obama administration?

Won’t the insurance companies up those institutions’ premiums to pay for those things?

As for waiting a year to implement this regulation, it should be noted that the presidential election will be over by then.

Whatever happened to the first Amendment right of freedom of religion? The First Amendment to the Constitution reads: Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

Isn’t this regulation prohibiting the free exercise of religion by making religious institutions go against their consciences?

Please contact President Obama, our senators and representatives and ask them to stop this crime.

I wonder what Patrick thinks

about the "Nuns on the bus?". They are a courageous group of nuns trying to bring attention to the need for health care and other programs essential to the well-being of their flocks. Some congresspeople have barred the door when they arrive on their bus, even canceling appointments. Others are more welcoming, like the crowds who follow them.

Seems to be some divisions in the churches lately.

Well said, Senator Franken

Senator Franken gave a great speech on the Senate floor about this very emotional subject. Should individuals be dictated to by their employer as to what medical services they can have?

Of course not but,

we all can be dictated to by Der Fuhrer Barry and be forced to violate our religous beliefs, in violation of the Constitution.

Shame on Fair n Balanced

Shame on you for comparing our president to Hitler. Do you really think anyone other than your true believers will be convinced by your crude comparisons? I will now "Ignore User".

James Bond

He has lost the argument, so he resorts to such references. Insults do garner him a lot of points, except in the eyes of decent people. He seems to be a sad old man, living in the past, bitter and alone. Sigh...

And I hope you are lakelander, as I have been concerned that he/she was fed up and deserted this site.

Doctor Fair...

In the Netherlands/Nederlands, tolerance is acceptable.
As a descendant of the culture of Holland, the Netherlands, I then do a review...

As a student of history, correct me, please?
Adolf Hitler was an opportunist.
Go back in time.

I have visited the Netherlands/Nederlands in the past few years. This wound still hasn't healed...
Can you say the same? Have you been there, have you visited the folks there...If you have, you then have a experience to share about being there...

World War 1...
Germany was in economic depression...

Then in another few years,
World War 2...
No change of the economic depression...

Not going to use the Roman Numeral system to record those years.

What was the single biggest event, that gave World War 2 it's introduction?

In Germany, it was the land of no opportunity.

In the United States of America, we pride ourselves on the land of opportunity...

The United Germany now is a very positive economic engine.
Or did I miss something?

Maybe the whole

European economy colapsing? And southie, are you saying you libs never referred to Bush as Hitler? Me thinks the bitterness is people like you realizing that there has been a lot of hope but the only change since your hero took over was for the worse.

You won't get a comment

from Joe Ranger. He's trying to sneak into this office quietly. Then he's on his way to reintroduce the Oblurstar Dynasty. How many open houses have you been invited to that he speaks at?

Certainly they are, and you are a racist for questioning them.

Thanks for all the legwork, OFB!

I sensed there was something off about that area. Your detective work confirms it. Sometimes the gut knows what the brain hasn't figured out yet!

I can't believe some of you folks are still trying to claim that

...the Church is dictating what sort of care people can get. They are not. They simply are not willing to pay for treatments that go against their eternal teachings. What a bunch of fascists that you should try to get people to act against their consciences. Yes, I said it, FASCISTS!

who said this?

"We have never held that an individual's religious beliefs excuse him from compliance with an otherwise valid law prohibiting conduct that the state is free to regulate. On the contrary, the record of more than a century of our free exercise jurisprudence contradicts that proposition."

That was the majority opinion written by Justice Antonin Scalia, a devout Catholic and ultra-conservative member of the Supreme Court, in Employment Division v. Smith.

The constitution guarantees that the government will pass no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the exercise thereof; it doesn't say religious beliefs supersede the law of the land. If it did, we'd still be burning witches.

Note the difference between "state" and...

State (federal government). And making no law regarding the establishment of religion means making no law requiring a religion to act against its teachings.

Here's a quote for you:

"The Fascist conception of the State is all-embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism is totalitarian, and the Fascist State—a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values—interprets, develops, and potentiates the whole life of a people."

It sounds a lot like the current POTUS's ideology. Can you tell me who said it?

Who said this? Ooo...ooo....pick me...pick me....

Who said this? Was it H-I-T-L-E-R, also spelled O-B-A-M-A?

Or as the church lady would say, was it "S-A-T-A-N"?

I'm sorry JB, you're wrong, as usual...

...it was Mussolini, the father of fascism. Looks like Obama has learned well from his ideological master.
