Some may have noticed a lot of people if square dance attire around Brainerd last weekend. There were 834 people who registered for the 60th Annual Minnesota Square and Round Dance Convention. Dancers from nine to 90 were enjoying the beautiful facilities at the Brainerd High School. There were people from all over the state, Canada and many surrounding states.
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to watch the dancing and participate in a quick lesson. Several guests registered and, as we spoke with them, seemed to be enjoying the event. Hopefully we inspired some to decide to learn to square or round dance.
We also want to thank everyone we worked with at the fairgrounds where we had over 40 campers, the high school staff and Visit Brainerd personnel who were incredibly helpful as we planned and participated in the convention. Special thanks go out to Savanna Cole who sang the Canadian Anthem, VFW Post 1647 for presenting the colors and Mayor Wallin for his kind words.
Most of all, thanks to the friendly people in the area who made us feel welcome. We had a great time and hope we will be able to come back to Brainerd soon.
Thanks again,
Dave and Andy Flint
