I intended to get this to you sooner, but then guessed there would be a lot of reponse regarding Baxter’s plan to do the Fourth of July parade this year, and you wouldn’t be needing any comments from me!
I have to say “Yipee” that it is being planned. In the past during that time of the year we always had more work than we wanted to do, so the parade gave the wife and our gang of kids a good excuse to take a break from it all. But it was more than just a break. It was a chance to see the many floats, marching bands and groups, obviously enjoying putting on the show as much as we did taking it all in.
Can’t help but pick up on some of the friendly banter that might be in play when the Baxter group decided to do the parade, and very pointedly made it clear that they did not intend to be taking the “parade” from Brainerd. Also have to believe that seeing to all the details involved in having a parade is quite a responsibility and the Baxter group needs to be commended for undertaking it!
Have to also believe a good deal of planning has already taken place between our Baxter and Brainerd communities; and sharing the overall responsibility on annual basis might be considered for the growth of our communities and the “parade.”
