Recent news reports have shown that despite the large number of Americans who are out of work, many jobs are going unfilled because employers cannot find workers with the necessary skills to match open positions.
At Goodwill – Duluth, we have nearly 100 years of experience matching potential employees — specifically people who have disabilities, those who lack education or job experience, and others who face challenges to finding employment — with prospective employers. Here in the northland, Goodwill provided job training and services in 2011 that helped 192 people find meaningful employment.
Since 1951, Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada have marked the first full week of May as Goodwill Industries Week, a time to celebrate the organization’s mission of enhancing the dignity and quality of life of individuals, families and communities by eliminating challenges to finding employment and providing access and opportunities to skills training and employment opportunities.
Working together, we can ensure that every individual in the Northland has the opportunity to earn self-sufficiency and reach their fullest potential through the power of work. Please help us to support our mission by shopping and donating at your store at 514 C St. N.E. in Brainerd or at our new Crosslake store at 35562 County Road 66 across from the campgrounds.
