Credit well deserved
I heard Romney say on the radio that if the economy is improving the President should not get any credit for that. Really, he did say that. This from the candidate and usually from the party that blames him for all the economic problems of the world and yet can’t seem to acknowledge anything good he does. I believe we should give credit where credit is due. No credit for improving the auto industry and keeping Chrysler and GM from going under (most Republicans voted against), lowering unemployment, withdrawing from Iraq, reducing taxes for most Americans including the top 1 percent, striving to fix health care and cover the uninsured, close the donut hole, cover pre-existing conditions, put students on their parents health care and the other improvements of the Affordable Health Care act (things they want to do away with if elected).
In an effort to give credit where it is due, it seems only fair to acknowledge some of the accomplishments of the Republicans and the Bush administration. I admit they were very successful in convincing us that Saddam Hussein was responsible for the attack of 9/11 and that he was hiding weapons of mass destruction. Or think how much wages have gone up for us all, especially their most wealthy friends. One has to appreciate loyalty to those who donate so much. Then there is the great job the five activist Supreme Court justices are doing in protecting our right. So glad we are able to be strip searched now. What a job of protecting us from those voters who have no photo ID, like those seniors in nursing homes, too poor to drive, or students who live away from home. Lets all give them the credit they deserve, after all, they did it all right so far.

I actually back the Photo ID law. There are many jobs that you are required to have a valid, legal photo ID. I think in-order to vote you should have one. Not all seniors in nursing homes have a photo-id, but some do. I do think if a senior citizen is voting they should be like everyone else: show id, going to voting booth ALONE, and cast your ballet. All the photo ID voting law is trying to do is keep illegal aliens from voting along with convicts, or people that have lost their license for breaking a law.
BTW I don't think any of the politicians deserve credit. All they do is blame others for their wrong doings. All parties are corrupt, you can't tell who's a republican or democrat unless they tell you. Even then you can't tell because they all say one thing and do another.
army kid: photo id and convicts voting
Those who are incarcerated for non-felonies can vote.
Those who are on probation could vote illegally if their drivers licenses (or voter ids?) do not indicate they are a felon. Which they don't.
So, no, this law still doesn't correct the issue of felons voting. That would be up to the court house to note on the voting records. That would mean more paperwork that might not get done correctly. And their voting rights are restored when their probation is up, so who is going to tell the court house to change their records in a timely manner?
Ever heard of fake ids?
I'll give the liberal agenda ALL the credit <GRIN>
Compared to the destruction liberal entitlement programs are waging on our economy, foreign policy errors (while important to not forget) are not on voters' mind this year.
Conservatives, as opposed to RINOS or democrats, are not promising war and never did. 9/11 was a trajedy requiring a response...would you have not voted to find Osama Bin Laden and bring him to justice? That, thank goodness, is in our rear view mirror. We can thank our brave men and women out in the field for doing that. They put themselves in harm's way to get it done.
As a voter, I was annoyed with Mr. Obama for making a lot of campaign promises, and then failing to meet them. Let's be clear: a) he did not fix health care...he gave us a monster bill that now we have to spend money to repeal b) he has invited the possibility of more war with every unnecessary drone attack c) and he has not provided us a way out of our debt problem...the number one threat to our national security.
I know why though. The sad truth is, the liberal agenda that he represents can't resolve health care, end wars, or rebuild the economy.
It's time for the American people to rebuild what was lost on 9/11. If the Brainerd Dispatch will print it, I would like to write a series on how entitlement programs got started, how they are the direct reason for $15 trillion dollars in debt and no end in sight, and what real conservatives would like to do to restore Americans' liberty.
"I actually back the Photo ID
"I actually back the Photo ID law." We're checking the wrong thing. Resident O'Bama proves we should be checking voter IQ and check ing to see if voters are current on their taxes.
" I know why though. The sad truth is, the liberal agenda that he represents can't resolve health care, end wars, or rebuild the economy."
Barry's health care schtick was never about health care, it 's all about getting re elected and improving Muslims' self confidence. Stop listening to Ed Schmaltz.

your quote, "Those who are on probation could vote illegally if their drivers licenses (or voter ids?) do not indicate they are a felon. Which they don't."
Why would you make a claim that voter id's wouldnt indicate they are a felon?
I am going to claim that the government will take away your voter id card if you are a felon and not issue one if you want one after the fact. I know I am going out on a limb but I do those sort of things.
You can not get a fishing license if you have back child support. A simple swipe of your drivers license or ID card shows the person selling the license that on their little computers. So I am going to guess with a simple swipe of an id card or drivers license, they will see if you are a criminal, legal or illegal alien, US citizen, etc.
You can not get a firearms hunting license for deer with a felony on your record. One swipe of your drivers license or identification card, and walla, what do you have, oh thats right a record of your criminal activity.
So in other words, a secure connection into the states records using the same exact machine that bait shops, retailers etc have for selling hunting/fishing licenses will show if you can vote or not.
That is a terrible attempt lakelander, but i believe the word is FAIL.
well, idwd
A voter id can be a driver's license or a passport. Since when do felons take their passports to the courthouse and tell them to stamp them FELON? I have never been a felon, so those who have or have knowledge of the legal procedure can say whether you turn in your passport when you are convicted. And as I said, once your probation is up, you can vote. Not like your example of never being able to buy firearms. (And we can rest secure in the knowledge that no convicted felons EVER posses firearms. Whew, glad that is so true. )
Where there is a will there is a way to get around the voter ID law at least for felons.
I believe the current Secretary of State suggested a photo in the voter register. If that were to be done, perhaps they could also stamp FELON in the register. But what if the person's probation was up and he was not updated in the register? I can see a whole lot of law suits ahead for people who are denied the right to vote...law suits that we, the people of Minnesota, will pay for. Just a thought.
Does the bill deal with making the voter id card an electronic card that can be swiped and information attached to it like a Food Stamp ID Card? Is it numbered? Is there electronic equipment at each polling site to verify details such as the felony situation?
So many details aren't specified in this amendment. Let us not assume this is something it isn't.
lakelander unreal
your passport does have the information on it if you are a felon.
you should have tried getting into Canada before they allowed first time DUI offenders in. It was on your passport. No DUI convicts were allowed in.
No felons are allowed to cross Canadian border.
Nice try but FAIL is the word again
Here is my edit...
you listed different sources of voter ids that can be used. All the information you say that is not on them actually is. Please stop spewing false information. Your "facts" are so off base it is hilarious to read.
actually you could get into canada
with a small fee of over $200 with a DUI if the customs person liked you, if not you turned around

If a current passport, which has a current address on it was received BEFORE a felony conviction, it has no FELON on it. Get it? Why would a felon apply for a new one just to be stamped FELON? Get it? And the ability to check each voter for current status is not going to be available at each polling place, without considerable expense. Get it?
If not, ask a fellow worker there beside you to explain it to you.
And generally, a DUI is a misdemeanor, so you can continue to vote.

If you actually read my FIRST post, you would have seen I stated with a use of a computer, such as a fishing/hunting license computer. But you didnt read that did you?
As I stated, electronically, your id's drivers license and passport have all your information on it.
If you would have read my first post, you would know that was what I was talking about, but since you dont read anything and just spew your comments, you are not worth my time.
Now that you stated it isnt printed on the id itself, of course it isnt. Doesnt mean they cant start.
As for the felon who is cleared, its up to him to make sure the computers are up to date so he can vote and if he cant vote, well maybe you shouldnt have done the crime in the first place.
GOT IT? Good, I didnt think so
WOW IDWD..........
That beatdown will probably get you investigated by Homeland Security for non-spousal abuse. Did the repeated blows to the head tire your typing hand out? She hasn't responded for over 2 hours so I'd assume she is watching Ed Schlitz for new talking points right now.
Nice one sided fight and I only want to know how lakelander knows so many ways to beat the system? Is she a teacher that practices that trade before the elections? Unlawfull Voting 101 would be the course name!
i love more proof of lakelander not reading posts
lakelander, I stated that you COULDNT GET INTO CANADA WITH A DUI, NOT THAT YOU COULDNT VOTE. I used it as proof that your criminal record goes on your record of your passport since you didnt think it did.
Its so fun to post to lakelanders ramblings. You always have to repost things and say "if you read my previous post."
Well........ a lefty
........ might have a problem grasping the true meaning of any subject. That lady is terrified of voter ID and it makes me wonder if she has a personal problem and may not be eligible to vote or something. Maybe a residency problem? Oh well, off to bed. Sleep tight all.
