Recently Obama suspended construction of an oil pipeline from Canada to Texas until after the 2012 elections. Seems there are some “environmental” concerns. The pipeline would have created some 50,000 jobs over the next few years. Last weekend Canada’s prime minister said that if the U.S. wasn’t interested, his country would build a pipeline to Vancouver (Canada) and ship the oil to China.
What a deal. Obama killed 50,000 jobs and shipped our much needed oil to China. Sure hope he gets re-elected so we can enjoy more of his “prosperity.”

Haven't we been exporting our "much needed" oil from Alaska ever since the AK pipeline went into operation in the late 70's?
I've heard that the ultra dirty and environmentally destructive tar sand oil was going to be piped to refineries in TX where the final products would be exported too.
If oil is "much needed" shouldn't we start acting conservatively and stop wasting it? Where did all the true conservatives go?
Answer: they became liberals because the label conservative no longer includes acting conservatively.

As someone on here said, build it in the Dakotas. Why put it anywhere near our largest aquifer in Nebraska.

Some corrections to the letter
Actually the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline, so that oil could go to China, would go to Kitimat, BC not to Vancouver. Kitimat is 400 airline miles and 880 driving miles from Vancouver.
It would take about ten years and $5 billion to do that Kitimat pipeline, so Keystone XL makes more sense and more US jobs.
Otherwise, Art is right, IMO Obama's decision to punt on Keystone XL is not a winner.

The delay is needed so that we don't fall back into Drill Baby Drill! rut. That's bad for America and bad for the world. We need to start acting conservatively and that's only going to come by allowing the free market to drive up the price of oil.
After saying that they absolutely positively couldn't reroute the pipeline and that it would be a deal breaker if they had to reroute it around the aquifer the pipeline company now suddenly says it's possible.

Oil, Oil every where and not a drop to drink. Oh wait, thats water. Unless we dump oil in the water supply that help feeds the nation (and the world). Haven't you heard oil and water don't mix. Build the pipeline but be smart about it. And look for alternatives to get off the oil. Hope that's not being to green for you.
