What will you be doing on Thanksgiving this year? Will you be going “over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house”? Will everyone come to your home for turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and all that Thanksgiving means to so many of us?
Many of us in the Brainerd area will be unable to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner due to infirmity or health issues. Some of us will be alone, without family or friends. Some will be unable to afford the added expense of a holiday meal. And some of us will simply want to gather together with friends and neighbors in a community setting.
This Thanksgiving Day, the Brainerd Legion, VFW, Elks and Eagles Clubs have teamed together and will once again host a Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Last year, we served over 400 people! The dinner will be at the Brainerd Legion, located at 708 Front Street, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend. If you are a shut-in, a meal will be delivered to you.
To make a reservation to attend, arrange for a meal to be delivered, donate pies, or volunteer your time to help at the dinner, please call the Brainerd Legion at 829-2249 by Monday, Nov. 21st . (The clubs would be extremely grateful for monetary donations to help offset the cost of the meal. Checks can be made payable to the Brainerd Legion, memo: “Community Thanksgiving.”)
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
