There’s a quote I recently came across that says “Volunteers aren’t free because they’re cheap, but because they’re priceless.” That definitely describes the volunteers for 4-H in Crow Wing County.
We just came off a 4-H event called Share-the-Fun last Sunday; April 10, where 7 club acts and 10 individual acts prepared skits, musical performances, or comedy sketches to perform for each other. The time and energy the volunteers gave to assist the youth members as they prepared and gained performing skills cannot be measured. The volunteers supported the leadership of the youth and in the process everyone had FUN! This is only one example of the type of volunteerism going on in the 4-H program.
As spring approaches and summer follows quickly behind, the county 4-H schedule gets extremely busy with dog practice, horse clinics, Shooting Sports instruction, Arts In, and animal project days. These are put on by volunteers with a passion in those project areas to educate and help our 4-H members gain valuable knowledge and life experiences.
Club leader volunteers are busy year round planning club and project meetings, service learning projects, fundraisers, and helping their youth gain leadership experiences in all areas of their club and project work.
April is National Volunteer Recognition Month and Crow Wing County 4-H wishes to thank its many volunteers for all the time given to help our program be so successful. You are priceless!
