We commend the Oak Lawn Township supervisors for their wise decision in voting “no to beer at the fair.” It is refreshing these men, who have the voting power in Oak Lawn Township, seriously listened to the voice of the people. Public safety is a concern for our community.
Due to financial restraints the fair is encountering, we encourage the community to become actively involved by donations, sponsorships and volunteering. Contact the Crow Wing County Fair Board because your involvement is necessary to keep the fair a successful and memorable event.
Thank you to those who attended the Feb. 1 town hall meeting, to those who phoned or e-mailed the town board and to the Oak Lawn Township Supervisors Dan Peters, Mark Haglin and Eric Van Drew.

Maybe MADD can pony up a tiny fraction of that $18,000,000 they have in the bank to support such a great alcohol free family event.
It is unlikely though. In 2008 MADD raised over $40 million, including $9 million from the government, but donated less than 1.5% of it to communities. Compare that to over 50% of their revenue going to payroll it is no wonder this 'charity' has received the dubious one star rating from Charity Navigator. The worst possible rating.
