Open Forum:Tax cuts for 'Money Bags'

Posted: January 5, 2011 - 8:17pm

I ask in truth, would paying fair taxes to a nation that made way for your vast wealth scathe your net worth? Your taxes paid fairly could help this nation move forward profoundly in economic healing.

No other time in America's history have many owned nothing while so few harbor most all her profits and resources. Surely the irony of granting you tax cuts is a paradox even you cannot deny. Yes, I too laughed, tricky old "Money Bags!"

Political schemes aside, may I offer some insight learned from hindsight?

We the people know you are intimately fond of your wealth and power. We know you believe yourself to be beyond the reproach of fellow citizenry. Hence, tax cuts.

But, for all your wealth and lofty stature, we the people treasure more so our freedoms. Thus, when your self-serving greed encroaches upon our freedoms to work, live and care for one another alike in true democratic fashion, then we the people will dismantle piece by piece your very, petty "empire." "Money Bags," please every U.S. citizen could be a "job-maker" with a fraction of your wealth under their belt. You are not a "job-maker;" you are a squatter on government resources, a swindler of fair pay and trade, and when your lips move it's a lie. Your friends, the banks, showed us all your tricks. We the people are tired of you spending our tax dollars and hoarding profits even as this nation's economy shudders. You are an embarrassment to America's long-standing reputation of generosity here and abroad. Grow up, pay your taxes and contribute your ill-gotten gains to the U.S. Department of Public Debt Reduction. You are a Scrooge without conscience. Shame on you for being so selfish in our time of need.

EXCELLENT!

You nailed it!

After 3+ decades of solely benefiting from the increases in productivity while worker wages stagnated or fell backwards it's time for the wealthy to step forward and put the country first.

Curb your greed. A few less millions won't make you less. In fact you may find it will make you more.

Who really writes the rules?

Several times I've gotten that Republican email about how once a population learns it can get change government so they get free benefits they will continue to do so until the economy collapses.

That is EXACTLY what is happening but unlike what the email says it isn't the working class that is changing the rules for their benefit. It's the wealthy well-connected who are writing the rules behind closed doors for their own benefit and causing the country to spiral downward.

Look no further than the $600,000,000 taxpayer funding for stadiums that happens even as funding for public parks declines. That is followed by an increase in juvenile crime caused by idle hands followed by an increase in juvenile incarceration followed by an increase in adult incarceration.

What are you talking about?

***Grow up, pay your taxes and contribute your ill-gotten gains *** So, anyone who Gloria and Fish deem "rich" has gotten their wealth thru "ill-gotten gains". Time to hit the Advil..the Fish induced headache is starting already. Everyone with a few bucks is a crook!!! And Fish, I hope against hope that MN builds a new Vikings stadium if for no other reason than to tick you off. Even the very liberal Mark Dayton knows the advantage of having NFL football in his state. But to have the state build a stadium and watch you link that to juvenile crime is just priceless. New stadium = no parks= adult incarceration. LMAO!!!

Funniest rant I've read in a

Funniest rant I've read in a long time!

"you are a squatter on government resources"

It's not the gov'ts money, nor is it yours.

I believe you meant to say:

"Thus, when your self-serving greed encroaches upon our freedoms to work, live and care for one another alike in true communist fashion..."

Need or your own greed-----------

Working hard for something has never been considered greed if done in the right context--it is the wanting of that which is not yours or the wanting of what you have not worked for and taken from others and then given to you which is to be considered greed, not need as the original poster and the "oh so great fish" are demanding be done! Get off your dead arshes and do something for yourself and not expect others whom have worked hard to supply you with your day to day needs deadbeats---in other words, "get a life"

Hey Gloria-

Do the rich pay a larger percentage of their income to taxes than you?

Yes.

Do the rich pay a larger dollar amount to taxes than you?

Yes.

If the tax system was truly fair, you and the rich would pay the same percentage or dollar amount to the government.

Talking about the Democrats

Funny how when I read this letter, I immediately thought the comments were directed toward the Democratic leadership, since that is who Wall Street and other billionaires generally support ("the Money Bags").

On second thought, this letter is more properly classified as the typical class warfare rhetoric coming from the left. But then you can't ever get a liberal to look in the mirror.

How about we make people pay

How about we make people pay based on how they have benefited from productivity increases?

Does that sound fair? If you benefit more you pay more.

For the past 30+ years the wealthy have taken 100% of the benefits from increased productivity while the working class has gotten ZERO. In fact our wages haven't even kept pace with inflation so our buying power has DECLINED.

And now the wealthy want US to pick up even more of the tax burden.

That's because THEY WRITE THE RULES!!!
