Defeated 8th District Congressman Jim Oberstar still hasn't spoken to Congressman-elect Chip Cravaack. In fact, he has done nothing to assist the transition, zero, zip, nada, and is sadly obstructing Chip's desire to handle constituent needs. Other outgoing congressmen are conscientiously turning over their constituent files to the incoming freshmen, but not Oberstar. Like a petulant child, he has decided to shred most of the case files, forcing those constituents to begin at square one with incoming Congressman Chip Cravaack. How petty, how childish!
I've no doubt that Oberstar is wishing he had held that town hall meeting Congressman-elect Cravaack and several others had requested at Oberstar's office in August of 2009. After making them wait over two hours, they were told Oberstar had no time for them. He did, however, have time to meet with special interest lobbyists that day, and that launched the energetic and successful Cravaack campaign that defeated a 36-year dynasty of out-of-touch pork and privilege.
Maybe Oberstar should look for a new job in - "like Malaysia".

Of course in true Tea Party form he admitted he had not actually read the legislation.
Overturning the legislation will be a hard sell once people realize the good points of the reform like insurance for college kids to age 26 under their parents policy, insurance for those with pre-existing conditions, insurance pools people can buy in to so they can actually get insurance, etc. Most health insurance companies love it (more people contributing to spread out the risk.)
Sound bites won't cut it any more, he'll have to do the homework, that is if his disability allows him to work.

I suppose you support people who signed and vote for a piece of legislation without reading it. The health reform bill was over 2000 pages....you are telling me the President or any member of congress (either party) fully read that bill before it was voted on and passed? The only part anyone read was what benefited their specific district.

Working people have not shared in the productivity gains of the economy of the past three decades (purchasing power is the same as it was then), yet the economy has grown and prospered. Where has all the extra wealth created in that time gone? To the uber-wealthy (via mostly wall-street funny money games). Did you bother to read the link? It explains it very well. The middle class has been taking it in the shorts because the rich (wall street) have the political power and largely control govt policy.

If we continue on the same track as the last 30 years toward a banana republic with a few very rich, a shrunken middle class, and a huge under class, the nation will be ripe for revolution which will make the tea party look like cakes and crumpets.
