Don't make me laugh, LLR: "... the President and the people of

his administration ARE socialists and they do want to undermine this country." C'mon, LLR. Seriously?!? The Pres. and most of his admin. are barely left of center (and some not even that). They are rich capitalists (some of them not many steps off of Wall Street) who, after they leave their admin. jobs, will go on to make nice incomes in the private sector. Socialists? Hardly. The worst combination of character traits is "paranoid and gullible", and I know you're not, so please don't make me laugh by calling them socialists.

On the subject of guns and videos, Mr. James Yeager, who gained notoriety recently for a video of his own, had his permit pulled in TN. http://www.wsmv.com/story/20559778/tn-firearms-instructor-gains-attentio...

If there is an Executive Order re: common sense regulations aimed at gun violence, count on it NOT including a ban of a single weapon. It's looking like the admin. is not going to go there, so the "bunker people" and other assorted zealots need to keep their powder dry. They WILL probably ask for background checks on the 40% of folks who avoid them through "gun show loophole". Good -- they should. And 70% of NRA members agree with this.

"Say it ain't so Joe"

Take that same shotgun ...shorten the stock...saw off the barrel... then fire at the same target at 45 ft...then count all the holes in all the targets that get hit...assault weapon or not?

After that even Joe would say..."this is a big eff'en deal!"

SML,

besides the government buying up all that ammo, the FBI has changed their training to be close quarters combat. Supposedly to deal with mass murderers when they jump out at them from school rooms.
I think it's just an addition to the the UN training that is going on at some bases where the tactics have been on assulting US urban settings.
I'm glad thet are training for places like Eden Prairie and the metro first.

Mills video.

I think many of the people commenting on the video miss the point. The govt is going after the style of gun. Big deal. No change. How many of these shooters were on psychotropic drugs? A high percentage. Someone mentioned ban all guns. Will that work as good as it has in Chicago? (500 murders last year, ALL guns banned.)
Good job Stewart.

The Point

The point he is making is really simple....banning and possibly taking guns away from regular normal people will do nothing to combat crime. Don't make this issue more than it is. The government does not know what is best to do...that is pretty obvious these days.

Pileated,

You are correct! Most of these mass shootings, the shooters were filled up full of prescription psychotropic drugs. Prozac, Zoloft etc etc. And guess what the main ingredient all these psychotropic drugs have???

-Sodium Fluoride-

Dialogue and Discussion...Stewart Mills to be applauded...

A cherished amendment, the second, and now with recent events, a renewal of the great debates...
Yes, I have a number of arms, many inherited from ancestors and some in very active use...
Deer Season is a cherished tradition in our household for example...
Folks I know call them Bambi and look so cute...
Others know them as vehicle hazzards and we're providing a service to thin the herd...
Both valid arguments however...
And I hope, this debate continues and inspires some new and creative ideas to reduce, and yet I fear, not eliminate the tragedies that we have seen lately...

get real

People assault rifles are like military rifles they are not designed to kill But to serious injure people. (if you wound a person you take out three people. Two people to carry the wounded person away)

Dutch,

I know that and almost bought one a while back. But look again, she's just posing for the photo. The stock isn't on her shoulder and she'd lose her eye if she fired it. Good luck to anyone trying to hide that under their coat or skirt.

they can outlaw ar-15's if

they can outlaw ar-15's if they want.. There is so many out there it would just make the gun-ammo investors richer... Most Americans ain't stupid, no good man would give away his private party based on an illigetimate and unconstitutional law... Laws are only as good as the enforcement and I'd like to see the US enforce the removal of assault rifles...... The military are gun toters and most would go awol before they took the private property away from the father, farmer friend, etc... The whole debate is a joke... Who reading this article would hand over their gun to the federal gov't?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Only a crazy person--The guns will just go into the governing authorities hands making our gov't are more totalitarian than it already is.. hehe this debate cracks me up.... We need the district of columbia to secede from the union.. I don't even have many guns or an assault rifle but if I hear another word about restricting my freedom I will have alot

Brainerd Lakes...A destination to visit, and not avoid...

Stewart Mills has a very solid case for the Second Amendment...
He's part of a family of enablement...
A dialogue that reaches across this great nation now emerges...
And here's where I share now...
Why the Brainerd Lakes means so much to many of us, and yet, have to work in Twin Cities or other remote destinations to contribute to the Brainerd Lakes Now...
An adventure of never forgetting where you came from, and want to enable the current...
Many of us now are in this situation...
Time to share...
My Past and Present.
Past...
1976 to 1980 and 1982 as an Employee of the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center...
Part of the North area that is Mills Archery and Gun Range...
It's a continuation of the business life cycle...
I held employment in 1979 to 1981 at United Parcel Service in Brainerd as well.
I took the summer of 1981 off to get off 48 hours in Summers at Paul Bunyan Center and concentrate on 20 hours working at United Parcel Service...
1982 was the summer of fun...
48 hours at Paul Bunyan Center...
20 hours at United Parcel Service...
And dating my spouse of close to 30 years in June 2013...
My 1971 Dodge Charger rose from 79,000 miles to 127,000 in 2 years...
Glad fuel was reasonable back then...
Super ugly now...
Present...
IT Architect of a major financial firm...
With a respectable presence in the Brainerd Lakes Region...
My family chooses to spend our spare cash *less each year* in the Brainerd Lakes Region...
As so many folks in the Cities...
Ask around...
We SUPPORT the Brainerd Lakes Region, and it's a destination, and not an avoidance...
GO BRAINERD LAKES...

'assault weapon'

The term 'assault weapon' is a manufactured phrase that gun banners created to divide gun owners. It is just like 'Saturday Night Specials' and 'cop killer bullets'.

The guns they are attempting to ban function no differently than any other semiautomatic rifle, pistol, or shotgun. When they attempted to ban them before they tried to categorize them by describing mostly cosmetic features such as a pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, and adjustable length stock. NONE of these features make a firearm more lethal.

Most of the rifles the gun banners are focused on right now fire the .223 Remington/5.56 cartridge. This is NOT a powerful rifle cartridge. It is most commonly used for varmints and is barely adequate for deer (and wasn't even legal for deer until within the last couple of years).

The effort to demonize and ban this small set of firearms will do nothing to prevent crime. It is just the first step of divide and conquer.

Thank You

Excellent video, driving home a number of very important and practical points, and cutting through the smokescreen of the political wrangling that is going on in DC and in the state houses. I am looking forward to visiting the new range next time I'm in the Baxter vicinity! A key item not addressed in the video is why we parents so freely sentence our children to government warehouse "education" in the first place. There are far better choices! But that's another discussion for another day.

Stewy Mills is an idiot

I am an avid hunter and own many firearms for that purpose. I have hunted grouse in the backyard all the way to chasing deer and elk in the moutains and everything in between. I have yet to find a need for an assault rifle or a high capacity magazine. I dont need to own one just to say I have one or pretend like I have one for "protection".

I support gun rights but doesnt mean I have to agree with people who think the solution to high gun violence is more guns, that is what you call crazy!!And gun issue or not, Stewy Mills is an idiot.

Dispatch, when will the next reader issued video be shown. I assume this was not published just because it was a Mills????

Everyone who values freedom needs to speak up. Period.

Amazing comments: Remember this...every comment and opinion is a moot point if you are not free. Freedom is the only reason all of you can be here commenting on anything. Once your freedom is taken from you....it would be very interesting to hear your sad opinions then. Study history people, because it does repeat itself.......and your all in the process of learning what that means regardless of your opinion. There is only one issue here and it is freedom. You better decide what that means to you and those you love. THis is a very serious issue. History is full of people who DIED to ensure you have the freedom you enjoy. That is quiet a price to pay....must have been important.

Reading all these comments is like documenting the Galactically stupid. Please, those of you with obuma stickers on your cars.....do not remove them. That does not make me a republician either.
