Ron Houle’s editorial of Dec. 3 sparked my interest when he referred to Keith Hansen as vice president of something. In fact, Mr. Hansen is a vice president (of audience development). I have never heard of such a title in the newspaper industry, so am wondering if it is a spoof?
It was refreshing last week to read editorials from other newspaper staff personnel. I hope the Dispatch continues to rotate such duties as there is more than one slant on the news out there.
After Mr. Hansen’s “vacation” last week it does appear that his Dec. 3 opinion column shares light on the possible problems of getting something done in Washington, and this time shares the blame.
Once again I encourage him, in his vice president role, to serve as a leader in our community and encourage writings to bring us together, not continue to polarize us.

when it doesn't goosestep to the liberal agenda, Peter?
Try an independent thought
You mean you aren't capable of polarizing yourself?
You admit that you are a follower and it takes someone
to polarize you.
Have a mind of your own and polarize yourself without
anyone's help. It is refreshing to be independent.
It is refreshing to have an independent thought and then
find out that other people share those opinions.
I see Fair that they didn't like your "goosestep" remark.
All to blame
We all contributed and benefited from the past policies that brought us to this mess. But is it fair to ask your neighbor to help pay your utility bills when it is you that refuses to turn the lights off and runs the furnace with the windows open?
So Mr. Mann ...
... you'd rather have The BDD print nothing but material we all already agree on, so we can feel "togetherness" ?? Sorry, we have issues locally, nationally and globally that require new and creative solutions - by definition, solutions that are not the accepted norm that everyone currently agrees on. That Mr. Hansen offers counterpoints to accepted thought on many issues is what we need in a day and age when no one wants to rock the boat by challenging past and current practices and policies that are failing us. No more Kool-aid !!
