Lately, I have been noticing that I find reading the Dispatch a bit more enjoyable, more interesting, and thought-provoking. It took me a few days to figure out why. It’s the editorial section.
Having spent over 20 years in the newspaper industry, I was always quick to defend the First Amendment. While everyone has a protected right to their own opinion, newspapers have a responsibility to the public to present the facts and encourage discussions in public issues through both their reporting and editorials. It is encouraging to see those types of positions taken by your recent editorials.
I support continued editorial opinion from Tim Bogenschutz, Mike O’Rourke, and Terry McCollough.
I personally don’t need to see continued ultra-right wing (go ahead, look it up) elitism promoted by the Dispatch. You are better than that. You always have been. Sometimes I get in trouble for being blunt - so here it is. Keep Keith Hansen as the vice president of whatever you want him to preside over. Just keep him off the editorial staff. We deserve better. Kinda miss Roy Miller’s spin...

Add commentYo, FNB,
Did I see you in the news schmoozing up to Gov. Brewer?
Southie 11
Good one. would that be considered local news or national news? I wonder if she gets many jokes about "brews"?
Maybe Fair knows for sure.
FNB
Thanks for the help on the comments. It makes sense now.
southie,
I am quite a celebrity down here where women are intelligent.
Amazingly Arizona is behind Minnesota in child murder, even though they have a very high number of illegal immagrants here. You flower girls just don't get it do you?
On the disappearing comments
You just have to check out the "political correctness" LTE and response. The dispatch occasionally allows comments against their own policy (which requires a signed name to comment on criminal events), then retracts them when they catch up to their mistake.
Charlie/Sadie
No idea what you are talking about Charlie--that came way out of left field!?
Sadie I was reacting to your use of what I assumed was an extreme example, though I don't know the person you referenced. I thought the original commenter was saying he appreciates all sides in a paper, but a steady dose of the extreme lately has been too much.
Sorry if you took offense, but I might suggest you consider that many people who view someone as extreme are not in fact as extreme on the other side. The majority of people are more moderate, and have grown to dislike extremes on BOTH sides.
The smart women there must be
Snowbirds from up north as the educational system in Arizona ranks 44th in the US.
Education system
If their education system is 44th in the US, that should make them 45 times smarter than the Minnesota women. Hey FNB, you should have figured something like that coming from southie. I'm Jealous. Wish I were there. Enjoy while your down there. Happy Holidays while you're at it.
Rino
No offense taken. When I read that letter, I thought of the
first amendment and how he didn't want anymore of Keiths
writing. I think what Keith wrote today is OK.
I have been reading the Brd paper for 25 years and it has been just recently that the editor piece has been something that I agree with. I either read the editorial or just look at the topic and gaze it. I really don't spend much time on it.
Considering there isn't that much around here to write about
without offending someone, it is a challenge.
I wouldn't mind some in depth writing about the school district, City council, and the County . How they govern
and how they are financed. But, they won't because they may offend someone.
We were reading the letter with different points of interest.
We do think differently.
You got some 'splaining to do, FNB?
"Where in the World is Jan Brewer? Los Angeles Times: "A bit of a mystery is unfolding this week in Phoenix. Gov. Jan Brewer’s office sent [Arizona] Secretary of State Ken Bennett a customary notification that she would be out of the state for a week. But her office has declined to disclose where she has gone. Her spokesman did not return emails or phone calls but told the Associated Press that he could not respond to questions about the governor’s whereabouts. 'No one, at least that works for her, is expressing concern,' [Matt Roberts, Bennett’s spokesman] said. 'They obviously know where she is, and they are not comfortable revealing that at this time."
South
With obama winning maybe JUST maybe she is with jesse jackson jr?? That poor nice lady she tried!!
Rino and Sadio
You're both right. Give me both perspectives, not one extreme or the other as a perpetual diet. Just because you keep saying the same thing doesn't make it either right or believable. It's that simple - give me the different views, I'm still learning. Hope I always will be. Incidentally, I think Keith Hansen has had a couple of good editorials this week. Now that is shooting myself in the foot. No hiding here, just Ron.
