Stella D. Brusseau

Posted on: February 20, 2013

Stella D. Brusseau, age 98, passed away on Feb. 17, 2013, surrounded by family at home in Moundsview, Minn. Born in Manana, Minn., on April 22, 1914.

God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered “peace be thine.”

Stella was a proud resident of Brainerd for over 50 years. She served her church, community, and friends with the dedication of a loyal servant, until physical obstacles slowed her down. Her heart had the greatest capacity to love. Although unspoken...she showed true love, through her selfless and tireless ability to care for her entire family.

It was only in her last seven years, Stella agreed to move to the city, where she lived with her daughter, Dianne. It was with Dianne, she was able to enjoy traveling to Branson, Florida, and short trips to the casino. She was also able to become closer to her grandchildren, even attending her granddaughter’s wedding and eventually meeting her great-grandson “Finn.”

Stella never wanted for much, meeting people, laughing, and smiling. All who met her enjoyed her spirit. Her greatest gift to all of us was just being alive...and being “Stella.”

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Dora Inman; sister, Florence; husband, Irving; son-in-law, William Fenton; nephews, Charles and Milo Skeates; niece, Jean (Edward) Berg.

Survived by daughter, Dianne Fenton and her children, Joseph and Lori Freeman; son, Richard (Carol) Brusseau and their sons, Greg and Tim; daughter, Gina (Karl) Triebenbach; and great-grandson, Finnegan. Funeral service on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at church.

Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to Presbyterian Church in Brainerd.
