Roy F. Severt was born on Oct. 31, 1918, and passed away on Feb. 18, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Brainerd.
He is preceded in death by father, Frank Severt; mother, Rose (Skiba) Larson; wife, Pearl (Kounkel) Severt; infant daughter, Joan.
Roy is survived by son, Lawrence (Marian); and daughter, Sandra (Ivan Harder); grandchildren, Anthony Severt and Mark Severt; and six great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 13th Armored Division in Europe. He spent his entire working life at Northwest Paper Company, later Potlatch. He was a member of both the American Legion and the VFW and was also a member of the Last Man’s Club.
Roy leaves behind the legacy of having been an excellent pilot and making many friends among those pilots who frequented the Brainerd Airport, most notably Wendell Anderson and Howard Pihlaja.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
